geektom
Geektom- your passion is starting to seriously impress me, your on par with producing models at my rate :P You are too kind! Let's face it- scouts are not nearly as complicated as your customized Death Guard, brother! Corsair
WIP of my Kantor Counts-As Still needs some work on his chain glaive (can't see the bottom blade in the picture), and a few other bits and pieces, but I'm happy with the pose and I think he will look pretty awesome once the stepped base is completed. Balthamal
As promised I present my commitment for December, earlier and well on schedule compared to last month's woes I present Squad Gonaevan Group Shot - slightly blurry http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag78/chud395/SANY1165_zps6a6ef459.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag78/chud395/SANY1167_zps4af036e4.jpg As things stand these should be finished this week. Or as I'm currently tidying up the models I already have painted at the same time, next week. Really need to start a WIP thread for these guys... Corsair
Corsair, where is his torso from?As Ludo said, it's a Forgeworld Mk3 I have a handful of Mk3 bits I'm planning to mix with the Sternguard box, some Khorne Berzerker bits, and assorted other parts to make my Sternguard, but decided to use one part making this bloke :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282734-a-tale-of-18-hobbyists-wip-project-thread/page/17/#findComment-3541912 Share on other sites

Brother Argent
Unfortunately at this point I am going to have to withdraw from the Tale. As much as it pains me Warhammer will be forced to take a far back seat in my life for the next while as I now am required to work two jobs to try and keep my wife and I in the black. Although I don't start this new work till next year I would have been struggling to get the challenge complete anyway. So huge apologies again guys and keep up the great work. Some of the best models I have seen in a while coming out of this challenge. NovemberIX
Sorry to hear Silver Phoenix, good luck for the future. As for me, I've caught the minor crud being passed around down here, so it gave me a day or so to just work on models and get pictures. http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/564E2D05-DFF5-4498-97BB-46E288571345-1062-0000043252BFCC6A_zpsd9fafe12.jpg The only one glued is the lightning claw terminator, so the rest all probably get minor adjustments and additional decorations. http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/E7B7C4C3-14D7-4212-812E-48D383D26A7D-1062-00000439A28763EE_zps352ac033.jpg I'm not so sure about this guy, I'm thinking of clipping off the sword bit, or moving the whole piece to the leg. I figure it as a honor mark for defending some important thing or another. http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/3F2D3162-7C0C-4EE6-8B8A-DECEB6DF4CE0-1062-00000439B8B5431F_zpscdf47998.jpg I have a thing about having heavy flamers, so this guy gets to swap out his combi-bolter. His modesty cloth will eventually have the colors of Farbanti. http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/BE7D8C62-26C7-4C81-BDC3-6BD36553405B-1062-00000439C85B019E_zpsb9539602.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/3EACEA4B-3282-4C97-B7C9-AE356BDBD38B-1062-00000439BEE62473_zps2c090d49.jpg So this guy will be the Sgt. once he gets a helmet. He wields a combi-melta along with a power axe (which more and more seems to denote leadership roles with these guys) His rather long scroll may end up as more Farbanti stuff, or may actually be a scroll of deeds and honors. http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/C64A164F-AD3A-4D8F-B247-555E38C82A00-1062-00000439CCE4BE48_zps2417fc38.jpg And Brother Klause (not his real name...maybe) the first one to be mostly done, and the squad's close combat specialist. Next up are a few close ups from last months tac squad. http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/A4A75F0D-B3AA-40D0-AC51-1B803DA0AA8A-1062-00000439D8114C59_zps7ebfaf9f.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/0EABD601-EA04-4EEB-BC07-0B01A6902F44-1062-00000439E41A754D_zpsc2aa20bf.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/4D325A40-0732-4A22-A2F1-0165DAA0C68D-1062-0000043A00CF707D_zps0721532c.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag67/NovemberIX/D9E001A9-2DC4-469E-96CD-6841D16D57D3-1062-0000043A2DC473F9_zps13268653.jpg So my lesson for the day includes wanting another set of Tartaros terminators to make some counts as 40k HQ's, I think a 30k looking Tyberos and Lysander along with a Chaplain and Librarian would be a little cool. As always brothers, your work are inspiring, and keeping me moving forward little bits at a time. Superstealthyninjafo
Looking over my painting and finances I have come to the conclusion that I shall not be able to complete this painting challenge, as it is simply too heavy a drain on my already low funds :( . However I shall continue to follow the incredible work being done here in this thread, and plan on continuing my army, and was wondering if it was alright if I could still put up a photo of any models that I painted for it, as I plan on painting the inquisitors soon alongside the assassins. Once again I am sorry to bow out of what is a great opportunity, but if my finances start to look healthier then I may be able to come back and finish the crusade of Inquisitor Kyr Strandhogg. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282734-a-tale-of-18-hobbyists-wip-project-thread/page/17/#findComment-3546050 Share on other sites

Corsair
I'm umming and ahhing over my Kantor, specifically in terms of his weapon. I wanted a double-bladed chain-staff thingo, but it looks a little too unwieldy. Decided to go for a spear instead, possible with some sort of blunt weapon on the base. I then need to see if I can detail it better, as I want it to seem analogous enough to a big, unwieldy powerfist that anyone I hypothetically had a match with would not have grounds to whinge (not that I expect I'll ever play a game or use this guy as Kantor) I'm also thinking of removing it and using an actual powerfist, maybe cut so that it is resting on his knee. Will be building my Librarian after Christmas as well, going to be getting some fun components for future projects (had a pretty great idea for an honour guard) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282734-a-tale-of-18-hobbyists-wip-project-thread/page/17/#findComment-3547177 Share on other sites
chaplainmikey
Corsair- Do you have any pics of those weapons? Spear aren't something we see all that often in 40K so I'm very intrigued. :P Superstealthyninjafo- Sad to hear you are dropping out but I can relate to your hobby financial issues. :( I have finished my Librarian and 2 Sternguard Veterans, but as they aren't actually part of my 1,000pts list I have posted them in my WIP log so as not to clog this thread. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282734-a-tale-of-18-hobbyists-wip-project-thread/page/17/#findComment-3547225 Share on other sites

NovemberIX
Thanks, I fell in love with the models when I first saw them, and I figured they'd make a fine tableau with a Contemptor to back them up. Sadly I don't think I'll buy and build another set though. They have honestly been the worst resin figures I've ever worked on. There was the usual mold lines, but also mold slippage and warpage, a fair number of bubbles and just weird damages I've tried to cover up or work around. I know I could have called FW for replacements but it's been just under a year and I'd primed and started painting them, so I figure I was a little late to call to complain. Besides I'd rather save that conversation if when I get started on either of the Deimos preds or the storm eagle and I find something horribly wrong. Even so, I do still want another set, the thought of lightning claws and chain fists together to make a Tyberos, or actually getting to use the storm shield that came with the weapon set for a Lysander just seems awesome, along with whatever other three HQs I end up bashing together. Once their shoulder pads are done I may try doing a fluff piece to introduce the men of Yellow Squad. They seem like gentlemen with a story ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282734-a-tale-of-18-hobbyists-wip-project-thread/page/17/#findComment-3547854 Share on other sites
