Paulucho
So I'm a CSM (3k) player and thinking about doing wolves drop pod list. Double combi's wolf guard and not sure on the HQ yet. My question are the scouts any good that come in the battleforce set? Basically get them for free or should I not really worry about them and just start buying wolf pack boxes and drop pods? Thanks the responses. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282870-thinking-about-space-wolves/ Share on other sites
logun
scouts use to be an auto include for me, but 6th has dulled them a little due no charging when coming from reserve. depends how you set them up, have a melta/plasma and two plasma pistols come on to get shots at some rear/side armour or clean up some heavy weapon infantry. hoping they get a decent tweek in next dex. DanPesci
i still quite like the scouts as snipers, their higher than normal BS means more hits, and i find in most games i get a good precision shot that pays off...i may just be lucky with dice though :) they deffo used to be better when charging on from reserves into the enemy backline though. I currently try to run a pack of 8 with 7 snipers and a missle launcher. one note..when you say double combi wolfguard..do you mean taking wolfguard with 2 combi weapons each?? As i dont think you can do that (unless ive completely misread the codex these last couple years haha) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282870-thinking-about-space-wolves/#findComment-3514091 Share on other sites

As i dont think you can do that (unless ive completely misread the codex these last couple years haha) "Any Wolf Guard model may replace bolt pistol and/or close combat weapon with..." (p86) An often overlooked rule, but with combi-weapons only 5pts a pop it can make for some serious supporting fire! Valerian
However, they can't shoot both weapons in the same turn (unlike Gunslinger rule for pistols). DanPesci
ahhh i think thats why ive overlooked it, majority of the time my wolf guard TDA come down in a pod, fire their 1 combi, and are then either shot to pieces, or charged, so its good to just keep them with the free power weapon. random question..if you are relentless (which TDA gives you) can you fire both weapons? or does relentless just allow you to fire heavies after moving? No, Relentless only allow you to fire Heavy Weapons after moving, and to charge/assault after firing Heavy Weapons or Rapid Fire Weapons. Only Monstrous Creatures can fire multiple weapons, other than in the instance of the exception for dual Pistols (i.e. the "Gunslinger" rule).
