Legions... Legions everywhere...

Soooo, im starting up (a few)Heresy army(s).

What I want to know is, which of these Legions do you prefer, and why should I make an army of them. And this goes for colour, theme, feel et. Anything at all that makes these Legions epic:

The Iron Warriors

The Imperial Fists

The Thousand Sons

The Death Guard

And yes, I realise all my choices are polar opposites/hated enemies.

Honestly, I'm saying do the Thousand Sons simply because I haven't seen a Heresy army of them yet, a little bit of talk here and there, but no action, I think there's a lot of potential for awesome sauce there.

Cheers,

Jono

The problem inherent in such a question is perspective: cool to you may not be cool to me etc.

However, so as not to totally cop out on an answer, I'll have to throw my vote in for the Death Guard. They are the Geneva Convention's worst nightmare and like to huff poison for fun. All of their characters in every medium (BL, GW, FW) are bad mamajamas and their Primarch basically IS the Grim Reaper of 40k.  Need I say more?

I agree with Dumah on this, I had a sons army a while ago and ended up wishing id done a deathguard army instead. there a good looking army when all together thoe........ but no deathguard definatley. I've got a large fists army and they come with all the fluff you could wish for. natural that means that I'm opposed to everything about iron warriors thoe ! :)

cheers,

Sean

I love my Death Guard. They're no nonsense, they don't prescribe to useless ornate armor or pompous titles and badges of rank. They wear bare ceramite, trimmed in naked bronze and bear the color of Barbarus on their pauldrons. They don't name their weapons, they don't give them fancy paintjobs, they're standard grey and they're just tools. The weapon is the man wielding it. They are resolute, they fear nothing, they show endurance few others can. Their badges of honor are the damage they've sustained and survived. The XIVth Legion are the epitome of man's resilience and survival in a harsh universe.

I'm a Pre-Heresy era Iron Warriors player myself, so I'm clearly biased ;-) but they really aren't that common a Heresy army to see. I'm not entirely sure why, but there are Imperial Fists armies popping up everywhere! There are quite a few Death guard players too, so I'd say Thousand Sons or Iron Warriors.

End of the day though, it's your army, your choice; I let so many things sway me, cool minis, awesome books, that i constantly changed my Legion and never did the one I truly wanted. Now I'm doing IW, I've managed to paint about 70% of my 2.5k so far in about 2 weeks! Just realise you need to have real enthusiasm in your Legion choice as you're going to be dropping a helluva lot of money on these guys!

Read the short story "Crimson Fist", and tell me you don't want to start a breacher marine based army.

if we could arrange the models to make a 30k testudo formation I would.. however im waiting on Thousand Sons.. I don't care what anyone says they are good guys!

Not FW, but still....just saying, why wait?? All of the Legions use the core list with a few special units....

Based on the cover of A Thousand Sons im going to butcher a tomb king with the cobra head piece and try and make the snakehelm and im going to buy some catraphracti and attempt to sculpt some scarab occultish bits. With a reaper autocannon, coz you know, better numerology, more scary name etc

That eagle helm is a bit tasty though...

Supposedly, a different core list will be published in the beginning of each trilogy, to show unique specializations within certain Legions as well providing new units.

Similar to how new FoCs were published in Massacre.
