Madmaardigan
The vindicate has a special rule, "deadshot" which allows you to always allocate the wound while shooting with the vindicare Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282899-vindicare-assassin/page/2/#findComment-3518622 Share on other sites
GOFADK
does an assassin only precision shot on a 6? All shots are precision shots Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282899-vindicare-assassin/page/2/#findComment-3518825 Share on other sites
irwit
does that mean they are all by default rending too then? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282899-vindicare-assassin/page/2/#findComment-3518854 Share on other sites
vulpenie1
does that mean they are all by default rending too then? No no, they are different rules - rending is done when wounding / armor penetrating a target, not when rolling to hit Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282899-vindicare-assassin/page/2/#findComment-3518860 Share on other sites
Grand Master Caloth
The vindicare always picks his target and no Look out, Sir! Rolls are allowed. Lysere
The vindicare always picks his target and no Look out, Sir! Rolls are allowed. Well, the way they responded, it's more like this. Character A is allowed to roll for look out sir, but the Vindicare doesn't care, he still decides who gets hit. Grand Master Caloth
yes, essentially. easier and more polite to say they arent allowed than to tell your opponent "Yes, you still get to make the check, but then i get to say piss off and take the original target anyway" lol. Tiger9gamer
and how about a vindicare as an armor killer? would it be worth more than, say, two typhoon speeders? Grand Master Caloth
Yes and no... he tends to get focus-fired first turn if possible. I recently added him back to try him out and have had significant success, you just need to pick his targets well for while he remains alive. It's a crap shoot as to which is more survivable, but he is more reliable than the speeders against heavy armor. Madmaardigan
One other tactic to keep in mind you can infiltrate out of LoS and jump out to shot a landraiders or similiar juicy target with his pistol as it has the same rules as his rifle minus the "heavy", if I don't get turn one I do this often and it's worked great, I play him with the sole purpose of popping somthing equal to or greater in points than he is, that going to be potential trouble Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282899-vindicare-assassin/page/2/#findComment-3520082 Share on other sites
Grand Master Caloth
It doesn't even have to be point- equivalent. If he hits targets that will be an overall pain in your side, then he is paying for himself not in points killed, but points saved on your side, which with our small numbers, is arguably a much better use. I much rather keep him farther back, tho, because while he is decent in melee, that's not his expertise. Utilize cover and keep him at range. Reclusiarch Darius
He's alright as an anti-tank gun. He is very easy to kill though, especially in 6th with cover saves being ignored at will. His 2 wounds and 4++ melt under any serious attention. The pistol trick is cute, but it's a bit of a waste, he does have 36" range with the rifle. If you want suicide melta Ally some Bikers to do the job. Logan_the_Grim
I usually put this guy in a bastion. If there is anything more annoying than a vindicare its a vindicare with AV14 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282899-vindicare-assassin/page/2/#findComment-3521258 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
Haha that's always fun. Especially when you use the Icarus lascannon combined with 'Deadeye' to snipe out characters. Logan_the_Grim
How many points is a bastion? 75pts bare. Lysere
Haha that's always fun. Especially when you use the Icarus lascannon combined with 'Deadeye' to snipe out characters. He'd need to be on top of the bastion to fire that as the Icarus is not part of the Bastion. Still funny use for him.
