Chris Hadden
Simple question... Was it around for the heresy? I want to convert The Lord executioner model into a possible blood angels praetor but would require a few changes. Obviously the assault symbol would go away, and the eagle on his chest. What about the Crux? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283163-crux-terminatus/ Share on other sites
Conn Eremon
None of the models I have seen so far have it. I think not. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283163-crux-terminatus/#findComment-3519233 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
I'll have a skim through my old Collected Visions, but I'm fairly sure it is not shown anywhere in there either. Kol Saresk
However, nothing says it couldn't have been some sort of honor handed down by Sanguinius. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283163-crux-terminatus/#findComment-3519237 Share on other sites
Conn Eremon
I believe it may be an honor introduced through the Codex Astartes, post-Heresy. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283163-crux-terminatus/#findComment-3519238 Share on other sites
Disruptor_fe404
Neither the Cataphractii nor the Legion Tartaros have Crux, so I'd say it's a Codex thing. Kol Saresk
I was saying that it could just be a conveniently-crux shaped honor handed down by Sanguinius rather than an actual Crux Terminatus....... Emperor's Furor
I think they had the general shape as an honour, but it wasn't the crux terminatus of 40k. Conn Eremon
Kol is right about using the honor. Nothing stops someone from utilizing it as a personal mark, or a pre-cursor to the later icon. Aqui
Kol is right about using the honor. Nothing stops someone from utilizing it as a personal mark, or a pre-cursor to the later icon.If I was playing 30k, then that's my own view point. It would be just a matter of ignoring the whole "minute sliver of the Emperor's armour within the honour marking" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283163-crux-terminatus/#findComment-3519271 Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
Also, no need to remove the Aquila from his chest. The Aquila Militarys was/is the military symbol of the Imperium, you can see MK II armour wearing it on their belt buckle, it just wasnt common on to wear on the chest. Emperor's Furor
Yeah they came out and said it was only the palatine Aquila that was unique to the Emperor's Children, everyone else could have some form of Aquila. FunkyMonkey
Didn't they say it had a microscopic fragment of the Emperor's armor in it? You can't take fragments of his armor if he's not yet sitting on the Golden Throne Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283163-crux-terminatus/#findComment-3519384 Share on other sites

It has some significance you see. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283163-crux-terminatus/#findComment-3519414 Share on other sites
Conn Eremon
That is true, but that does not have to be everything about it. The Honors could have been present prior to the Codex codifying it across the reformed Legions into Chapters, and the shards of the Emperor's armor could be a later addition to a pre-existing honor. Cactus
Aesthetically the Crux Terminatus is nothing more than a fancy skull and crossbones. I see no reason it couldn't appear on armour during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. It won't hold the same significance as the post-heresy usage but that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist at all in the earlier time period. Kagarre Havariss
The Crux is a Codex emblem brought in to highlight that terminator armour was increasingly rare, only veterans proven to be suitable would earn the right to wear the armour. Not sure on a source but I know I've read it somewhere. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283163-crux-terminatus/#findComment-3520016 Share on other sites
Vazzy
I use mine as a honor gifted to the character themselves. Rune Priest Ridcully
I have it on my preator (gem instead of skull I know but still) and my Tartaros terminators, but that is mainly because i though it looked too cool to remove. Wade Garrett
The Emperor has worn more suits of armor than that stylish gold number he put on to tackle Horus in, you know. Given how long he's been around and how often armor making technology has updated, probably quite a few more. Conn Eremon
You know, he is never once described in regular clothing. It's always golden armor this, blinding armor that. What are they trying to say? In the grimdarkness of the far future, the Emperor has no clothes? What are they trying to say? In the grimdarkness of the far future, the Emperor has no clothes? Not to mention, the armor is always a byproduct of his will, so technically, its just a big psychic shield he wraps around his body. That's it! He's a naked Nudist. Sanct
Rather shy for a naked nudist if he's always cloaking himself in the mind-created real armour and clothing. As far as the 'armour' it could also be armour from one of his many vehicles/starships or even some form of shielding from the golden throne.
