daveclark890
Would a full LoganWing foot slogging list work? I'm talking squads of 10 WG in TDA with a heavy flamer and either a CML or assault cannon plus a couple of power fists thrown in for fun. Elazar The Glorified
I used to run them with some success. My list relied on (usually) 3 Lone Wolves taking a lot of the flack but I'd recommend a way to get a unit or two up the board quickly either in a drop pod or outflanking etc as in Hammer and Anvil games etc it can be a real slog getting to the furthest objectives without the numbers to weather the enemy shooting. Wouldn't go for the Heavy Flamer or anything that's going to be walking up the field though. You want as much shooting as possible so you can even the odds as early as you can but great to help thin the crowds on a deep striking unit for example Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283211-loganwing-foot-slogging/#findComment-3520034 Share on other sites
Gideon999
Really depends on the opponant and the rest of your army. I can say that if you are walking 10 terminators up the board, I am going to kill them all WAY before they get close enough to do anything useful. Mainly because, though a 2+/5++ is good, if I shoot enough bolters at you you are going to roll some 1's and each model you take off is going to hurt. I saw this just a bit ago as I had a land raider get wrecked and had to walk 5 hammernators and a chapter master up the board 3 turns into an imperial guard tank line. The master made it with 1 wound left and promptly got smushed by lasguns. Is it possible? SURE! Is it easy, no. :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283211-loganwing-foot-slogging/#findComment-3520076 Share on other sites
Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
As this edition, at least in it's earlier stages has proven, 6th is a very shooty centric edition. So with that thought fresh in your mind, think about your 5 to 10 man pack of expensive terminators and the amount of fire power that can come their way. As it's already been said, yes this is a viable idea indeed. You are not going to out gunline ANY of the other codices, especially the newest ones!! ;) And getting into CC is obviously a very good idea. I would recommend not going the 'cookie cutter' pack load outs and kit each pack for it's specific duty. I would look at running some Drop Pods. Sigvard
I agree with everything Rune Priest Rhapsody has said. The games where I have played this type of list I have found that you have to write it efficiently with every squad having a purpose in mind. Whether it be CC Monsters or Firebase they each need to have a goal for the game as getting caught in a mire of bullets and las-fire is painful even for the mighty Wolf Guard. My favourite of my specialist units are my tank hunters lead by none other than Arjac Rockfist. That hammer has proven deadly time and time again and when the combi-meltas are out its Character hunting for the big man and he has reaped an impressive tally.
