Leif-thunderstand
If its about shooting massive firestorms there is nothing better than wolfguards with sync.bolters and combibolters. (for lower costs no terminators) or you could equip your longfangs with heavy bolters if its just about hunting infantry. I use my grey hunters and Longfangs for the shooting, where the grey hunters get 2Plasmaguns in1troop of 10. My Longfangs got two las.guns a mis.launcher a heavymelter and a plasmacanon. Ilove that they can splitt theyr fire.... You see - no need of flamethrowers in my opinion Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283215-you-are-already-surrounded/page/2/#findComment-3532576 Share on other sites

MalachiOfRuss
eh, really??? does it work like that?? i presumed that you couldnt get precision shots if firing snap shots? however if what you say is true it would be interesting to see the maths between rolling just sixes (with rune priest) or just rolling to hit as normal/taking normal wounds as well. wolf priest wouldnt be good for this tactic as he only allows you to reroll 1's with PE. You're correct - it's an oft missed rule: Snap Shots can never be precision shots. I like to sticka h.flamer in my termy WG drop pod unit. Doesnt always get to do lots of damage...but at 5pts whose complaining :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283215-you-are-already-surrounded/page/2/#findComment-3533100 Share on other sites
Leif-thunderstand
If i would use termis i think i would use em the same way. Like d@n said .... Most games they do nothing but there ist that one game... In my other/older armies i got some flamers and efectively they brought me sucsess in three games where i play longer then ten years.... But if i look backwards and remind that situations ... Think i ll give my sw some termis for my droppod and equip one of em with that heavy flamer. Russ Brother 92
I enjoy h-flamers in particular when confronting tyranids... and the guaranteed D3 hits on overwatch is useful :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283215-you-are-already-surrounded/page/2/#findComment-3533218 Share on other sites
Leif-thunderstand
Yeahhh and since an experianced tyranidplayer told me last saturday there shal come a new codex (and of cause new models) in the verry next time for tyranids what shall make em more efective and intresting... Meaning: more txranid players to match - more h.flamers .... Well ... To me it means even a reason more for my verry first flamer/h.flamer in my sw bunch. ... But this tyranid thing is a preety good point.... DanPesci
my drop pod terminators very rarely seem to make it past turn 2, but then they are drawing a lot of fire usually because of this, whichis good cos it takes the pressure of my advancing grey hunters. usually run 2x C.melta, P.axe/C.fist 2x C.Plas, P.sword 1x H.flamer, W.claw Drop pod versatile (as my drop pod scatter rolls tend to be horrendous) and can cause a ruckus if not dealt with. oh dear...seem to have derailed this thread quite a bit! so to get more back to the scout theme... do people ever really add wof guard to scout units? I sometimes add one with a combi plasma Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283215-you-are-already-surrounded/page/2/#findComment-3533698 Share on other sites
Leif-thunderstand
I usualy give my scouts one with w.claw and p.pistol. Cause i hope to bind my foe 1 or two rounds that give me the time for my largerange strikes. Rift Blade
Latley the only WS pack I run is 2 PP & MG 5 strong. Take 2 of them without the WGPL as that way they can use BEL. This is usually in my list with the WP w/SOH in a LRC with WG TDA outflanking. KInda of an all or nothing list but fun to switch things around. Wolf Lord Wodan
That seems like an odd combination, Wodan. If they've got Sniper Rifles, that's a 36" range, and good standoff from enemy. the Pistols, however, only have 12" range, so it seems like you wouldn't get much use out of them, and 30 points are wasted. V The scouts can fulfill two roles geared up like that. They can pin enemy hq and still pop some armour. My list is posted if you want to check it out. Like I said they are expendable.
