B&C Twitter account

The past night I was thinking about the B&C twitter account, but I was so tired to post anything. I'll try now.

Well, the official B&C TW account is dead, it was dead from it's birth, and I can't understand why, because it seems you (the admin/mod team) post in Facebook from time to time. It is lazyness? Lack of ideas? Too much job for a single person to attend 2 to 4 sites and/or social media? What is it?

I can understand that can be tiring manage more than one account, I actuall understand it. But you have to have in mind, that you are leaving out a big part of the cyber-community out there. There is a huge and active 40k community on Twitter. If you don't want to miss out you can do some little thing without burying yourselves on work. Say, tweet just things like Contests/Challenges (Call of Chaos, Currus Belli, E Tenebrae Lux) or events like Loyalty and Treachery, or crashes. The announcements and the end of the events, and the winners. Maybe some gorgeous models from the PCA Hall of honour, that thing of stuff, and official announcements. That means 5 to 10 (guessing) tweets per month. And if you don't manage TW very good, you don't even need to do it from the TW page, as long as you are logged in, you only have to click the share button here in B&C and that would go to TW inmediatly.

Other way you can minimize work, is linking the TW page and the FB one, so every time you post in one of those sites, it get posted as well in the other.

Why all of that? Because I feel that's a shame that an incredible site and community like we have here on B&C is missing one of the most important social media networks.

My two (winged) skulls.

Prior to this version of the software it WAS a chore to deal with it. Now it is mostly just lack of wanting to use it. Twitter is one of those things that a lot of the crew find more annoying than helpful. Not saying we won't utilize it at some point but more that we just don't feel a huge urge of necessity to do so right now.

But if you all want us to use it more you can let us know here in thread.

@BolterChainswrd

I was wondering about this as well, given my own use of Twitter (I use it for news as well as to keep track of friends, and follow my other fandom -- anime).  Couldn't it be used as a general announcement tool instead, not only limited to B&C updates?

That could actually be a nice thing, coming from someone who avoids Twitter. Bit of an advertisement, showing off select threads, which could help to gain new members or to entice current members to explore beyond their regular areas.

Doesn't have to be a big, formalized thing. Just something that pops up every now and then when powers that be feel like a thread has become worth the attention.

Considering I use twitter notifications to keep me informed of current events. I can easily see a quick tweet saying the service is down would get to me pretty quick. Setting them up from FB is a pain for me since I am mostly on a mobile device and FB prefers desktops.

That's very cool from you B&C team :D

If you want a friendly advice, there's ways to improve followers/audience. That's the use of hashtags. A hastag is a word preceded by an #.

Like: #BolterAndChainsword. The hashtags (or HTs) are mostly used in  tweets as a channel to connect conversations.

Most used HTs related to wargames are:

#Warmongers - you get a free ReTweet from the Warmongering bot, that mean 271 extraviews.

#MiniatureMonday -  same as above

#ImperialGuard

#NightLords

And so on. You can also make your own HTs like #CallOfChaos or whatever.  You get the idea.

This is not for push you hard on TW, but a couple of tips for more efficient TW use. Hope it helps :)

I'm all for more B&C in my life, and some actually interesting bits on my daily drab of social media, but I fail to rationalise a valid risk vs reward assessment here. I just can't see an effective way to transfer anything from B&C into twitter format, short of bulletin system updates as mentioned. This is especially considering the post quality present on this forum (ie, >140 characters) At best, you would need multiple accounts for each subforum and a dedicated subscription system to work between twitter and B&C, but again, this would simply be a notification system hooked up to your twitter feed.

The most effective way I see of implementing twitter would then be tweeting a picture of each new post on a subscribed thread followed by a link to reply.

I would be grateful for a twitter account announcing things like special events or news updates etc. I think @Maximvs has some good ideas.

I say this as im very active on Twitter and avoid FB like the plague, and I know a lot of other users on here do the same.

Hoping to see a #BnC account.

p.s - I can volunteer to help if needed.
