Inquisitor--in honor of the new Codex.

Recommended Posts

I've been working on this guy in anticipation of the new codex.  I just love this sculpt; one of the coolest inquisitors ever to me.

EDIT: I have added a Sister and an Acolyte as his nascent retinue grows.

Thanks!  Ordo Malleus  inquisitors can take it.  If I want to field him as another ordo I'll just run him as counts-as regular armor--I don't play with sticklers about wysiwyg.   Then again it's a good excuse to paint up more inquisitors!

He's very dark and solemn - yet not at all drab or lifeless, thanks to that checkerboard! Really nice colour balance you've achieved. Very well done. Quite inspirational.

I've never seen the model. Curious. Is that how he originally came - bolt pistol and power fist?

The head's a tad too big compared to the rest of the body and particularly the space it is supposed to fit into (but I'm guessing that it's the original head and so there's not much you can do about it), but you've done a great job with the painting side of things :tu: I love the checkered pattern and the inclusion of red as a spot colour, while being classic for Inquisitors and Imperial agents in general, was definitely a good idea!

Here's the original from GW's 1991 catalogue.

I have still to paint mine!

I have used the other one with the hood, giving him the metal Nemesis Force Sword and Psycannon from the metal Grey Knights.

Thanks for posting that link!  I love that website--fun to drool over vintage dwarf sculpts.

Yeah, this guy definitely is proportioned like rogue trader but in the eyes and hearts of gamers of a certain age, there will never be better sculpts than this! :)

I have the hooded guy too--that fellow is equally if not more imposing.  I'm working on him too, but somehow I got more inspired to finish this guy.  Will post him when I finish.  I have a cool rogue trader space marine scout conversion I'm almost done with too.  You know, the old mohawk dudes with john blanche tassels on their shoulders?  The face is just too awful but I did a greenstuff re-breather that makes him look pretty sweet.  Will post him today.

Inquisitors seem like they would be a fun army as pretty much every model would need to be a conversation

It's true; if you poke around the internets there are some amazing blogs dedicated to just such an endeavor.

Very nice! happy.png

I have both the mini above and the other. They used to be my Brothers, and need to be stripped and repainted. The Inquisitor one will most likely eventually become an Iron Hand mini (most likely a "show" mini than one for games), the other I haven't decided.

In any case - this Frater definitely appreciates Rogue Trader Era minis! (even if many do look tired compared to the new ones) happy.png

So those WFB arms DO work for an Acolyte! Been wondering if they would.

Nope. That's a Rogue Trader era space marine scout.

Well, he's not wrong, exactly.  I've seen empire bits used to GREAT effect in inquisitorial warbands.  But yes, that is a Rogue Trader marine scout, with a greenstuff re-breather sculpted on.
