Natanael
Hey guys. So a few friends and I decided to get together for a day of 40k, and I figured it was a good time to try out and start a campaign system that I've been fiddling with, and now I figure it is even more fun to share it with all of you, so here comes some notes and pictures from our campaign. It might be updates when we do another weekend, or I might do another thread. I dont know. =) Oh, and thanks to the PCRC for the inspiration for this campaign. While not on par with their work, I hope it will be quite entertaning. War in the Chalcitis Insulam-sector As preparation, I made a small map of the planets, getting inspiration from the Crusade of Fire-campaign, each with lots of tiles with different bonuses and stuff, so we had something to fight for. Then we just placed flags roughly like the Crusade of Fire-campaign, with some twists, and went from there. Since there was 5 of us, there were some wierdness with the battles, but I'll explain in due time. The forces deployed right now are: Black Templar Crusade Space Wolves/Salamanders alliance Dark Angels Ravenwing Imperial Guard Iyanden Eldar Worlds: Vella Tumulis Planet Tumulis Arce Moon Manete Majoris Planet Manete Campestri Moon Manete Offcinas Moon Battle phase one In the opening engagements of the conflict, the forces of the Eldar of the Iyanden Craftworld clashed with the local PDF over the manofactorum on Manete Campestri. Fierce fighting ensured as the PDF tried to wrestle control of the manufactorum from the hands of the Eldar. The Eldar seemed confident at first, killing the PDF cavalry and destorying most of the Imperial vehicles, but as the battle raged the veterans of the PDF turned their plasma weapons on the Eldar wraithconstructs to great effect, pushing the Eldar back. The Eldar guardians, however, managed to claim several key locations thanks to the sacrifice of the Wraithguards and the battle seemed lost to the Imperials when Primaris L'inda and her Ogryn bodyguards smashed into the Eldar lines with all the fury of the Emperor himself. The ferocious assault seemed to halt the Eldar advance, and the battle came to an uneasy stalemate, both sides digging in and calling for reserves. A recon party of the Dark Angels happened upon a battle between what seemed to be Space Wolves and Black Templars. They soon discovered that while the Black Templar were trying to purge the sector, the Space Wolves, with the help of their Salamander allies, were trying to protect several artefacts hidden on the plains. The Dark Angels joined the fray, following their own agenda. As battle raged between the Space Marines, it became clear that none of the forces would yield. The Space Wolves took a terrible toll on both their enemies, with the Black Templars bearing the brunt of their fury. The bikes of the Dark Angels managed in the end to outmanouver the Space Wolf infantry and claim several of the artefacts. The field belonged to the Dark Angels, as the other forces retreated. Launching a suprise assault with a chosen strikeforce they advanced on the Eldar position while constantly keeping the Eldar pinned down with heavy artillery fire from their whirlwind battery. The Eldar, however, were not without tricks of their own and released both one of their Wraithknights and parts of the aircover to attack the Black Templar Advance. Making swift speed for the center of the Eldar line the bulk of the Templar forces were deployed via Stormraven, trying to cut the head of the Eldar resistance by killing the Spiritseer commanding the defence as well as claming the artifact that the Eldar were protecting. As the Templars cleared out the Eldar defenders, the dogfight between Crimson Hunters and Stomravens ended in favor of the Eldar as the Stormraven transports were downed or driven from the field. With air superiority claimed once again by the Eldar they seemed poised to take back the field, but with a last ditch effort the Templars managed to get a hold of the artifact and retreat to gather more forced. Demoralized by the loss, the Eldar retreated to their ships, leaving the Manufactorum in the hands of the Black Templars. With no real alternative the Dark Angels tried to counterattack but as more and more of the Wolves landed they were forced to retread. The field was taken by the Wolves, convincingly. Space Wolves vs. Dark Angels - SW Win (most one-sided game ever. Plasmapods rock) http://imageshack.com/a/img197/8266/f121.jpgUploaded with ImageShack.com As you can see, the PDF did not participate in this game. Beeing the last player to get to challenge anyone, the Imperial Guard player simply decided not to attack anyone and just consolidate her gains. Battle Phase Three - Zone Mortalis As the forces doing battle across the sector discovered that part of the artifact wanted by all might be contained on one of the Imperial Ships in orbit, several boarding forces were sent. Clashing in the halls of the huge spaceship the factions made battle to claim a foothold and to get to search for the artifact peice. The Dark Angels, having replenished their strength since the Wolves attacked, made early gains claiming lots of the junctions leading up to the main chamber. The Wolves and PDF fought ferociously in the halls against Black Templars and Eldar respectivley, and managed to eliminate both enemies before turning against the Angels. Alas, by then it was too late and the Dark Angels managed to claim the artifact peice, forcing the others to abandon the starship, returing to other vessels in the huge battle raging across the space of the whole sector. FFA Zone Mortalis - Dark Angels Win http://imageshack.com/a/img191/7548/76gz.jpgUploaded with ImageShack.com Battle Phase Four - Zone Mortalis Making a last ditch effort to claim the artifact now assebled by the Dark Angels the forces of the other factions launched a full scale assault on the Dark Angel cruiser containing the artifact. More cautious this time, the forces of the Eldar gained ground early, managing to eliminate the Dark Angel high command just as the alliance of Space Wolves and Salamanders closed in on the Angels from the opposite direction. The Black Templar, being deployed too far away from the action came against the wounded Eldar with full strength and charged in. After a bloody melee the Templars were the ones standing, but the Eldar managed to sneak away with parts of the artifact. Elsewere on the cruiser the PDF and Salamanders fought themselves to a stalemate, holding large parts of the starship, mopping up the last of the Dark Angel resistance. FFA Zone Mortalis - PDF Win I forgot to take Pictures of this, but here is a Collection of all that a gamer needs: http://imageshack.com/a/img440/2058/5guk.jpgUploaded with ImageShack.com Aftermath With the Eldar bled dry and the Black Templar crusade halted the field belonged to the Wolves and the Salamanders. The Dark Angels managed to hold on to large parts of their dominions across the sector with the PDF still controlling most of the Hive Cities. The artifact was in the hands of the Space Wolves, yet the sector was devided. War would continue to rage. That's it for now, fellas. I am sure we'll get back to the Chalcitis Insulam-sector, and hopefully next time with some decent terrain and a better Zone Mortalis-board. You can expect a lot of ship boardings and fights across starstations and the like, since all of us really enjoy the Zone-feel. Hope you had a good read, and if you got through all of this; good job! =) - Natanael Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283416-the-chalcitis-insulam-sector-campaign-recap/ Share on other sites
