Codex: Inquisition - Diamond in the rough?

Ministorum Priest

Usual 'human' stats, but with 2A.  Quite pricey, being a ppoint more expensive than a Purifier.

But.

They have: Flak armour, laspistol, close combat weapon, frag grenades, krak grenades, rosarius.  A 4++ Save!

Sure, Crusaders are cheaper and have a 3++ save.  But Priests also have;

Zealot and War Hymns.  War Hymns give them either reroll all Armour/Invulnerable saves for unit, Smash, or Reroll all failed CC wounds for unit.

Also they are quite customisable.  You're able to swap out either weapon, for either more CC weapons (so CCW for an extra attack) or an additional Gun (for Gunslinger), plus the option to give them Storm Bolters!  And Meltabombs.

And they're Characters, so get Precision Shots/Strikes.

At twice the cost of a Crusader, you get a Character (not an IC), that is Zealous, has a Chainsword and Stormbolter and a 4++ Save.  With the three 'Hymns' above.

Might not be worth taking a whole Squad of them, but I can't see the reason not to take a single one in every Inquisitorial Warband, for the reroll to Armour/Invulnerable saves.

Edit: Don't you just love Psychic Powers, that suffer none of the Psychic Power rules?  I thought GW had learned form that with the old Daemon Codex...

Tbh i think you missed out the true diamond here, take a couple of cheap div inqs and 2 cheap warbands as in two 12 point acolyte squads, now do what you will with the inqs but put the acolytes squads in valkyries and our GKs get instant air support rather than needing an aegis line or pop shotting.
I think its all open for discussion, as these are the two options we didnt have before. I think the valks could be better for a fast insertion coupled with servo skulls while if you want a flying fortress go with the stormraven. . The priests would be a nice buff to anything you have in CC, both may be worth a play test imo.

SoB versions are better. IC's and get a wargear option to auto pass the Hymn.

But as a buff to a henchman unit (and why bother ever taking a Codex: GK Henchman unit again?), they are unreal.

You may really really really want that assassin

One thing I don't understand about the priest is that he comes stock with CCW + las pistol (i.e 2 x CCW), but is able to swap one for a chainsword.

Why is that an option?

He either swaps a CCW for a CCW, or swaps a pistol for a CCW, losing an attack for no benefit.

What am I missing?

At least it's a free swap.
