zxyogi
Casting bubbles..extremely thin in places....general defects. If it had been FW would have sent it back but being CHS and based in the USA...I just got on with it!! thebymster
So after all that hard work, how do you get your extended ravens to battle? I was gonna get a kr multicase, then I saw the extension kit on eBay, now I'm not so sure it will fit in a box! Also have any of you tried the Puppets War turret on top? they all look awesome btw! Chaeron
I've just picked up one (pre-built, which'll save me the drama as others have stated in this thread!) - and don't have a clue. I don't currently have a decent way of transporting my other Storm Ravens, let alone this one... I'm guessing pick and pluck foam would be best in the circumstances, but I've not yet thought it all through. Disruptor_fe404
If the model's footprint and profile can fit into your case, visit a local plastics/rubber products dealer (some hardware shops stock the stuff too!), pick up some sheets of foam for about a buck a square meter, and cut the shape you want into it, and cut it into the shape of your case.  Alternatively, I picked up a massive toolbox at my local hardware place that was full of pick-n-pluck foam. Way cheaper than a model carrying case, but no trays. Which just means it's good for big vehicles, really. Chaeron
That is a terrible cast! Very unlucky. Â Looking back, incredibly grateful mine never looked like that! Was just reminded of this by someone else as I'm stripping and repainting mine. Â (And didn't want to commit threadomancy!). Grotsmasha
That is definitely the worst I've seen. The fit on mine is marginally better, but I didn't get any of those scratches or fingerprints. Â As to the Iconoclast, I'm in the same boat as The Chaplain. Dosjetka
Crap, that looks bad! thebymster
Nusquam, mine came through today, it's like yours except no finger prints and a little less scratching. Bought mine Sold As Seen on eBay. I've never done a project like this. Been scratching my head and boiling the kettle and filing and cussing all day I've gone and trimmed the floor panel too narrow cos I thought it should be square!. So never going to get it sent back now. I could honestly cry! Think I'm gonna have to chalk it up to experience and bail. BrotherCaptainArkhan
Nusquam, I know how you feel. That's the exact same state mine is in and I'm still trying to fix it up to look halfway presentable. It'll be fine for tabletop but not a display piece. I have used sections of the venerable Dread's armour to cover up the really glaring misalignments on the sides of the hull, you could try something similar. Â I recommend anyone who wants a truescaled Stormraven to simply buy a Stormeagle for slightly more money (although rumour has it that's a bitch of a kit as well) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283531-stormraven-chapterhouse-studios-extension-kit/page/2/#findComment-3593830 Share on other sites

Subtle Discord
*Subtle steps out of a convenient shadow* A Dark Works Raven extension is in the works, (see what I did there? ) along with other Loyalist kits, but time is far too short right now. So many new ideas will be turning up... soon; but I must first learn even more about how to make them real. I've been learning rendering lately and I can't wait to start applying it to some upcoming design sketches. I vow to the Dark Gods that grant me the visions to create, my kits will be far far superior. I have caught their gaze and plan to bask in their energy while it lasts. Let us hope they are not in a fickle mood. Brother Morgan
I just traced around the rear of the side part of the GW Storm Raven kit, added 5cm and then cut the part out of plasticard. Yes it takes time and a bit of effort but I was happy with the result:  http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/505210-Extended%20Storm%20Raven%27sSide%20View.html]http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/6/9/505210_sm-Extended%20Storm%20Raven%27sSide%20View.JPG[/url]      Just don't.  EESH, I hope the iconoclast land raider kit doesn't have similar issues seeing as how I just ordered one and it's arriving soon.  Did you get any kind of replacement for that Nusquam?  Take care that you don't get stung. Something I posted on 16/03/12 on my Land Raider thread...  "Had a horrible surprise today. I was excited as Royal Mail had left a card on Thursday saying they were unable to deliver a package and to come and collect it from the sorting office. I went this morning to collect the package to be advised that I had to pay £12.73 in charges. As the model parts were above £15.00 and came from the USA, customs had charged me an import tax and Royal Mail had then charged me £10.00 for supposedly opening and repackaging and handling fee. The original box has not been touched by Royal Mail. With today's exchange rate, the parts cost me £15.90 plus a further £5.60 postage and packaging and now a further £12.73 as well! This value for money resin parts has now become rather expensive.  Through gritted teeth, I asked if I could pay by card only to find they only accept cash or cheque! Royal Mail don't seem to work in the 21st century. As I don't carry cheques (last wrote one a few years ago) and didn't have cash on me ( bear in mind the original card made no mention that 1) there was going to be a charge and 2) they only accept cash or cheque) I now need to visit the bank.  As I was leaving I asked why the card didn't advise me of this, I was told that the postman had made a mistake.  I have sent a stinking email to Royal Mail Customer Services (that title made me laugh!) but don't expect much in a way of apology or refund/waiving of fees as they seem to be more interested in profit than customer service. I work in the banking industry and we are vilified for charges, but at least bank customers can move their accounts. Royal Mail's almost monopoly means I have no choice but to use them.  Please use my cautionary tale as a warning for purchases over £15.00 for imports outside of the EU.  Regards, an annoyed Brother Morgan!"  CHS had written incorrectly the amount of the Iconoclast kit PLUS the P&P ($34.00) on their customs sticker. If they had written only the cost of the kit, I wouldn't have been stung with an extra £12.73. I just chose to never purchase off CHS again.  The Iconoclast kit is alright. Some terrible mould marks on the top of the sponson (which will need to be green stuffed) as well as rivets all over the place that looks as if it has been built by Orks, not SM's. I'm going to have to sand them all off and add appropriate smaller rivets. Again, I've used plasticard and since made my own sponson.  P.S. I can't wait to see Subtle Discord's version - his models rock!!!!! thebymster
I just gave up in the end! Wanted a model to battle with for a local event and realised I was never going to get the extension done in time. So I got bits kicking around will never be used, chalk it up to experience! If I ever build another Raven I'll make my own extension.
