New Codex Rumours - Yay or Nay?

I don't think we'll be getting a dumb "big wolf monster."  I think our new centerpiece kit will be this "relic battletank" because it fits the pattern of releases so far.  Most of the new kits coming out have been GW going into their "past" (things the codex had before, old Epic models) and redoing them.  In the codex prior to our current one, SW could take Leman Russ tanks.  Now, I don't think GW wants to just give SW access to the Leman Russ but it seems to make "sense" to give us some other special "tank thing" that is maybe "Leman Russ-like" in its place.  I would be most happy if it was super customizable.  I'm envisioning something with a low-ish base points cost then tons of different weapon and "gear" options you can stick on it.  Thus you could field multiple of them and each have a different role.

I think we can almost certainly bet on getting the changes that other marine 'dexes got: cheaper psykers, random powers, unified wargear costs, flakk missile options for ML (be prepared for them to be 25 points for ML with flakk!), and so one.  Additionally, we'll almost certainly get our own flyer, and likely 2 in a dual kit.  I don't think we'll get the marine flyers or we would have been given access to them by now (Death from the Skies, like Black Templar did).  Now the question is: just 2 new kits?  We'll see.

maybe a relic tank, especially if the rumours about speed heavys are true. I don't think we will get a flyer though as gw has seemed to have gone down the route of feet on the ground as russ intended.

Nah, everyone's been getting a flyer or two.  I don't think GW gives much care to obscure fluff texts as opposed to the potential of selling model kits.  Just look at the Black Templar fluff - they're totally willing to rewrite stuff if it suits them.  No, I definitely think SW will get flyers.

What do you mean about "speed heavys" though?

A Leman Russ tank like in the imperial army would even be somehow interesting to me like that relic tank. Depending on what the relic tank would look like of cause. Big Wolfmonsters would be realy gay. Thats stuff for warhammer fantasy not 40.000

blood claws need a price drop and to be able to take  1 power weapon for every 5 marines. At the moment blood claws are only really good at grinding through hordes, which is to specific to be able to take in a regular list and to much of a points sink to just deal with cheap troops. Also I would like them to be able to take a wolf standard. In fact  I would like it if they expended the standard idea and had one, that was a one use wolf tooth necklace  and one that is on one use wolf tail talisman that worked for the whole squad for a turn.

Wolf scouts should be moved to a troop choice and be able to take bikes or a land speeder storm and of course camo cloaks if wolf scouts don't get moved to troops then make them actuelly elite and give them special issue amount like Sternguard.

Wolf guard seem good when viewed in a vacuum,  but in reality we have, in a standard sized game, 3 slot

to try and fit in our terminators, honour guard, command squads, veteran sargeants, vanguard, Sternguards, equivalents and out of all the units listed we only do shoot terminators better and only because we can take combi weapons.

lone wolves should be 3 a slot. and maybe get more attacks for every wound they loose, so maybe a wound or two aswell.

Ragnar needs to drop about 40 points and get is old wargear back, master crafted 24" bolt pistol and master crafted ap2 frost blade. Ulrik needs to actually do what a wolf priests does on top of his own rules.

Wolf priest should be able to buy a narthecium.

Of the top of my head, that's my wish list

I think a new tank thing ala the old exterminator is a fairly safe bet. It would also be cool to see a super dred/bjorn kit. I wouldnt be that surprised to see a plastc wulfen kit aswell. Aslong as its a fancy hardback book with shiny pictures im not too bothered... unless the put super derpy centurians in

" Feet on the ground as Russ intended " Has to do with teleportation, and nothing else!!!!!! Please stop using this silly quote to justify any other limitation on mobility. Our primarch might have not liked teleportation, but our legion has used teleportation when needed. ( see Emperors Gift).

I would like to see improvements in the cost of equipment for the Wolfguard. Whats the use of being able to build a cool looking WG with a jump pack and wolf claws if he is then so overpriced that you regret building him. I hope we are able to keep our plasma loadout. Afterall the SW box has so many plasma guns in it.

It's no how the fans interpret it, but how GW seems to these days.

I'd like to see:

- A Wulfen unit that can run then assault

- A GIGANTIC wolf with a shoulder mounted Demolisher Cannon that won't scatter

- Thunderwolf Cavalry drop to 30 points base with all upgrades being 10 points. Max units of 12

- This thread to reincarnate at LEAST 15 more times before the new dex is even close to being released...

One of the above points it actually true, guess which one!!

End of Line

The giant demolisher wolf.... Gotta be.

In fairness, an auto hitting demolisher cannon would be sweet, but then I loves me some vindicators.

This current codex just needs tweaking, not a serious overhaul. Couple of points adjustments and a few little treats and I'd be happy.

Given GW's pattern of "bringing back" previously removed units, I'd say there's definitely a non-zero chance of Wulfen coming back in the new codex.  Probably as a small Elite assault unit (that can maybe Deep Strike, Outflank, or Infiltrate) and that would set things up nicely for the (inevitable) 13th Company supplement that allows the Wulfen to be taken as Troops.

Yup, with transport of 6 marines. Why bother. But each to their own. At least this way we would get a Thunder fire cannon that could keep up with us.

Too be fair it's also the single toughest land raider ever made, and it's got twin-linked multi-meltas. Would be cool to see wolves get a tank worthy of actually being called a tank. Predators don't count, just too squishy to really be a tank.
