Rhetoricus
I need a little help from those experienced painters amongst you with vast paint collections. Take some Lyanden Darksun Take some Golden Yellow Mix them together 1:1 What i'm looking for is a paint that matches this colour as close as possible. Don't care what range it comes from. Cheers guys. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283702-colour-matching/ Share on other sites
Major_Gilbear
...Is that a warm slightly orangey ochre colour? If so, something like VGC Gold Yellow and VGC Plague Brown could work? I say this on the basis that Gold Yellow is close to Golen Yellow, and that Darksun is close to Plague Brown (or in fact the old Citadel Bubonic Brown). An alternative to Plague Brown is their Darksun-direct-equivalent Heavy Goldbrown from the VGC Extra Opaque range. VGC chart here. Failing that P3 Heartfire and P3 Moldy Ochre might work well? P3 chart here. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283702-colour-matching/#findComment-3529185 Share on other sites
Rhetoricus
Thanks that's great. Just hope I can get a match that's not going to make what i've already painted look out of place. Need to find a suitable shade in the range too. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283702-colour-matching/#findComment-3529353 Share on other sites
DarkMark
Yriel yellow springs to mind; I don't think its quite as bright as the Golden yellow IIRC. Colour of Battle's Sunbright Yellow might be worth a look, or Army Painter's Demonic yellow. If you go with AP then you might consider their Soft tone ink for a shade. This might be useful to you too. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283702-colour-matching/#findComment-3529773 Share on other sites

Rhetoricus
Well im not precious about which range to be honest. The exact wash I used for these was a mixture of Gryphonne Sepia, Ogryn Flesh and possibly some Devlan Mud, I forget exactly how I mixed it up now and am furiously trying to recreate it. I remember that GS on it's own wasn't dark enough for the deep shading. (Link here you might find interesting, and another here...). Not sure what would be a good match for Ogryn Flesh, but as I recall it being ruddy/orangey, perhaps a dab of flesh wash or a chestnut wash would suit?
