Techmarine Harkus
So I decided to test out my new airbrush on a mini for something other than basecoating. Overall, the shading/highlighting of the blue armour was far more subtle than I had intended so most of the shading was achieved with washes being strategically applied and the highlighting reinforced with copious edge highlighting . I also used the airbrush on the force axe aiming to create a dark blue to white gradient. Where my previous application of matt varnish (to seal my work) had turned out rather shiny, I had to apply a brush on varnish which is pretty matt, but not all that friendly towards acrylics put on top of it. This lead to some slightly overwatered airbrushing accidentally creating crack like marks on the axe head which in fact, I think, look pretty neat. Any comments or criticisms are welcome. Any advice about applying GW snow flock in a more appealing manner would also be appreciated. [Click on the thumbnailed images to view larger versions. JeffTibbetts
I had to check the closeups since you mentioned it. I'm impressed! That's pretty dang clean. I also saw the banner bearer and I love the back of the banner with the names of campaigns or people or whatever. Clearly they're alphabetized, though. What happens when they need to add a new one? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283797-ultramarine-librarian-trying-out-a-new-airbrush/#findComment-3530879 Share on other sites

Clearly they're alphabetized, though. What happens when they need to add a new one? Glad you liked it. The standard bearer is in another thread on here actually. The names are supposed to be those of the Ultramarines' first company who died in the Battle for Macragge, so hopefully no additions will be required by the time the banner was made.
