Superglue turning reddish...

I opened a container of Army Painter superglue a while and there was some kind of reddish substance coming out of it. I gave it a shake and that seemed to help, but it still has a reddish tinge. Anyone ever have something like that happen to them? I'm wondering if it's still ok to use.

Edit: I've been reading up on cyanoacrylate (the only ingredient according to the bottle) and its shelf life once opened has long passed by. I might just stop by the local crafts store when I get up in the morning. I'm sure they sell Loctite or something similar.

Embrace the fortuitous omen sent to you by Lord Khorne and accept your destiny as a loyal servant of the Blood God! Skulls for the skull throne!

Never heard of superglue bottles leaking "red stuff". Are you sure it didn't have a previous life as a murder weapon? On a serious note, if you can get hold of Gale Force 9 superglue, it seems to be both better value for money, more effective, and less clog-prone than Loctite superglue. Just started using it myself and I'm never going back.

Never, ever, heard of CA glue going red as you describe - I'd suggest it has somehow been contaminated from the storage container or such.

Stop by a DIY/hardware store instead, and buy an "industrial brand/strength" one. The exact brand is less important really, just make sure it isn't a hobby or home-use type.

This is for the same reason that you should buy white PVA glue from a hardware store rather than from a craft shop; the "hobby" stuff is always cut/diluted and therefore not as strong as the more concentrated stuff intended for construction/industrial trades.

On bigger joins, you won't notice the difference much, but on smaller ones it is the difference between needing to pin or not.

Sounds like it isn't normal. Thanks for the responses.

Tanhausen: I know better but always find myself hesitant to buy anything generic. At least I've weaned off many of the especially overpriced gw modeling supplies. sweat.gif

BrotherCaptainArkhan: Funny you should mention Khorne. I've been assembling a test model for a World Eaters paint scheme tonight. I'll keep an eye out for that brand If I don't end up hitting up the hardware store as suggested by Major Gilbear.

Major_Gilbear: Diluted? That explains why the GW stuff is so terrible (going by the last couple bottles I'd tried). I'll take a look around the hardware store next time I'm able. I could actually use some new PVA glue anyway...
