Deathwatch/Grey knight
Now not so long another hh movie thread got put and it didn't take long for it heated up but I for this topic I'm putting down the riddiculous fights or suggestions No. 1. The guys that put the topic up said chose graham McNeil to do the script over Dan abbnett I'm not dissing McNeil but you can never choose him over the only legend that can capture the alpha legion I hope that makes sense No.2 he also chose Nicholas cage as curze now the problem with that was the people who were against that didn't even give it a second thought cause appently he's a not a good actor whitch to me seems like they don't know what they are talking about now I myself wouldn't put him as a primarch but I would like to see him play either Erebus, sevator, maloghurst, now before you rant listen now all I hear is Nicholas cage is just crap just watch treasure hunter or ghost rider now I admit his recent movies aren't that good but let's go back to the late 90's has everyone forgot how f@%%¥ awesome con air and face/off was he played an awesome mainiac which is y I put up those suggestions Let me know what you think Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283876-another-movie-thread-i-read/ Share on other sites
Blacksad
I think you need to: 1) cut your sentences. ending a sentence and starting a new one BEFORE you reach the 50 word marker is good. 2) remember: everyone is entitled to their own opinion. statements like "you can never choose x over y" are not good form. Stating people don't know what they're talking about because you don't agree with their personal preference => also not good form. 3) not start yet another topic on something that's been discussed to death. Spinsanity
I agree with what Blacksad said, try to structure your thought a bit more, will make it easier to follow your point. Anyway, we'll never see a 30k movie, or I sure hope not anyway. You want Cage? Fine, whatever. Then who else? Cruse? Pit? Just how many big names do you think can be added to the cast before they run out of dough? In the end, we'd end up with dozens of nobodies to play the part of the Primarchs and main Astartes and complain that the acting s*ed... Better face it, this is NOT a movie you want tos ee made. Brother Captain Sirus
IMHO I can't see GW doing another movie anytime soon, even if they did my bets would be on CG again. As voice actors wouldn't mean changing how a character actually looks (as for casting nicholas cage, i wouldn't hold my breat. As i honestly like some of the movies he's been in, the rock and gone in 60 spring to mind, but he isn't who i'd choose or want to see particularly). Even if GW decide to do another movie, they have enough good writers, i personally believe their main focus should be on a better sound track to said movie. If you've watched the Ultramarines movie you'll probably see/hear what i mean, as yes there was some issues with thr plot but if the score to the movie had been more epic then certain issues could have been overlooked. In conclusion i dont think we'll have to worry about a 30k movie. daveNYC
What, we can't all agree that Nicholas Cage and his fake southern accent being in a 40k (or 30k) movie would be bad? Deathwatch/Grey knight
I get your points I just get sick of hearing that Nicholas cage is a bad actor when he not that's what I was really getting at and yes a if they used nobody's as cast for it. It would be a good movie even though I've only seen it happen in tv shows like GOT, under the dome, revolution, true blood, vampire diarys, the originals, SOA so much more and it works well we would probably only have 1-9 big names but that's not a problem But sadly we won't see a movie based on it even though it is the longest novel series ever and beats Harry pothead 100 fold cause its pure awesome but why don't they You would think 40k would have the same amount of fans as SW,LOTR,HP,FF I mean the amount of money THQ lost cause of how much they invested in company of heroes 2 and dark millennia online now the are dead company pretty much Now I have to wait till 2015 for the 40k online which is now called eternal crusade What I'm getting at is how do gaming company's invest so much in the 40k franchise yet no one will make a movie I mean they did but it failed But I guess most people are just in it in for the game I can say that from my POV I only found 40k because of dark crusade I was playing and my dad pointed out that it's not just a game it's a whole franchise I can't speak for over seas but in Australia it's not that popular Opionions Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283876-another-movie-thread-i-read/#findComment-3532464 Share on other sites
helterskelter
Taking the time to make it right. No rushing, talking to the fanbase. Just like eternal crusade is doing. Not just letting some monkeys looseon typewriters and coming up with ultramar... Xwingt65
There wil never be a live action 30-40k movie. Too expensive, and with a too limited revenue base. Frosco Toppings
I think Family Guy should do it. Starring Peter Griffin as Horus, Quagmire as Fulgrim, Cleveland as Vulcan and Stewie as Lorgar. The Highlander
If you don't like rants read no further: What very few people see to fully grasp is that if a Horus Heresy movie is made, it will most likely be the last venture of GW's movie making. Therefore, it will have to be sheer epicness. In other words: the best actors in it. It would have to be some Anthony Hopkins grade stuff. My personal ( and incomplete ) list: The Lion: ?? Fulgrim: Damon from Vampire Diaries Perturabo: Khan:?? Leman Russ: Sean Bean. Rogal Dorn: The General from Avatar. Konrad Curze: If Keith Ledger was still alive.... Sanguinius: Klaus from Vampire Diaries. Ferrus Manus:?? Angron: Zod from Man of Steel Guilliman: Eion McGregor Magnus the Red: ??? Horus: ??? Lorgar: I forgot this one... Vulkan: Enemaus from Spartacus Corax: The guy who plays batman? What's his name? Whatever, that guy. Alpharius Omegon: ??? The Emperor of Mankind: Russel Crowe and you know it. Malcador: Michael Cain Thats all I got. Problem with this is you cant just throw big names at somethung and say it will work. Dont get me wrong a few of these guys would be alright but i think most of these actors are beyond even wishing for. However Oenomaus from spartacus does havr the voice of a primarch, he also voiced a transformer recently which was funny as all you can hear is "Spartacus (rant)". I always found the Joker more..... Interesting than scary. But Hannibal Lecter? You're funny if you think I'm going to be anywhere closer than ten and half feet outside of a tank. Dumah
I don't think it could ever work. No human actor could portray an Astartes without considerable CGI to modify how they look/sound, and if that's happening, what's the point really? I just don't think it could ever be done well. To clarify, I'm not talking about the quality of the CGI. I'm talking about humans being able to portray something that is much more (or less?) than human in a convincing manner. Not all great actors can do all things well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283876-another-movie-thread-i-read/#findComment-3533510 Share on other sites

Augustus
Kol is right. Lotr managed to do Sauroman's* voice fairly well and giant trolls, Sauron* and tiny little hobbits. That said however, I feel cgi or animation is the best bet. Knight of the Raven
If there's a movie, I'm looking forward to all the fangirls infesting the universe with Fulgrim/Ferrus, Magnus/Leman, Guilliman/Lorgar and Emperor/Horus fanart and fanfics because yaoi between people trying to kill each other is so hot and kawaiiiiii.
