The thing that restores wounds on Mauler/Forgefiend, Defiler and Heldrake is the It Will Not Die special rule (regain lost HP on the roll of 5+ at the end of your turn). All daemonic possession does on non-transports is to -1BS, +1W and ignore crew stunned/shaken on a roll of 2+.
