has anyone heard anything more about this? here's a direct quote from the GW description:

Across the battlefields of the 41st Millenium, desperate commanders loose their greatest weapons of war. Classified “Lords of War” by the Imperium of Man, these vast and deadly assets bring a new level of destruction to the galaxy’s eternal war.

Warhammer 40,000: Escalation contains full rules for adding super-heavy vehicles and gargantuan creatures to every Warhammer 40,000 army. This means you can now use these massive models in games of Warhammer 40,000 as well as games of Apocalypse.

This 96-page, full colour, hardback supplement contains:

·    A background section introducing Lords of War units and their terrifying impact on the battlefield.
·    All the rules needed to play with super-heavy vehicles (including Flyers and Walkers) and Gargantuan Creatures, as well as rules for their potent wargear.
·    An amended force organization chart that allows players to choose Lords of War units as part of their standard Warhammer 40,000 armies.
·    Datasheets for every plastic super-heavy Citadel miniature, plus a selection of super-heavy vehicles and gargantuan creatures from Forge World.
·    A showcase of expertly painted Lords of War Citadel miniatures.
·    New Altar of War and Gauntlet Challenge missions that can be played instead of the Eternal War missions in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook.

now obviously this has me worried, especially given how "cheap" baneblades and the likes are...a supplement that allows one to field those would yust ruin casual pick up games...

are you equally worried?

nope not at all most of my group are though but they wont even play apoc for the same reason , now don't get me wrong it may be a big changer but I think we should all wait and see the game mechanics before we decide ,

as to cheap bane blades yep the real shame is that the plastic super heavy's are not available to every army  this putting some peeps in a forge world thing ,

that aside it might be a 2000 pt thing in which case coolo

I think but dont quote me this will work the same as lords of war in the horus heresy books, 25% of the points being played maybe spent on lord of war choices.

Pick up games is a no no for me, unless you plan on taking a baneblade with you everywhere you go. Id think it would have to be arranged.

Depending on what superheavies are allowed exactly, I'd definitely share my 4(5) tanks... the fifth is the B&S Industries Fellblade. Then I'd also have to take into account the (still unbuilt) Gorgon, the three Minotaurs, the Crassius I still have to fix magnet-wise...

Yeah... can't have an armored artillery regiment without at least a few superheavies!

What no Preator or Dominus? :)

To be honest, my Dark Eldar are giddy over this.  If everyone wants to start bringing out 500 point vehicles, I've got the easy win button in the form of dark lances and blasters galore.  My Guard and Krieg will be fine with it as it just means all that anti-tank goes at one target instead of several.  My Necrons like it as massed gauss fire is almost as effective as my Dark Eldar at slagging anything with an armor value.  My Marine armies, including Chaos, will have some trouble, but I'll adapt.  My Orks will probably just die in larger numbers and still not care, while my Tau are going to be in for a rude awaking.  My Nids (almost pure assault) might feel a little less neutered if people bring Baneblades instead of airplanes, but will still be hosed by ID heavy lists.  I kind of want to see how my Daemons will fare though, as four Bloodthirsters make for fun anti-tank.

So SHs are officially in standard 40k now? I heard the point limit stuff being bounded around similar to the 30k rules before, is that still assumption/guesswork? I spend one weekend away from the internet and it feels like I'm weeks out of date all of a sudden!

I'm not worried at all. This looks like a nice way to fix 40K, which is broken. 40K was broken when Ard' boys was dropped on it.

I like the idea of SH vehicles added to more "normal" games. Even if I choose not to use one. For me fames became formula last edition and that ruined a large part of my fun. going to tournaments fighting " competitive lists" which had no real theme to them. The idea that armies will need to make a comeback putting tournament winning lists aside sounds good to me.
