Best way to set up Battleforce

My friend recently started 40k and has acquired a SW Battleforce, but he is not sure what is the best use of the Blood Claw/ Grey Hunter models.

Stupidly I forgot to have a look at what weapons were inside, so I'm not sure what he could create. If the parts were available, I was going to suggest to him to build :

20 Grey Hunters w/

16x  bolters

2x Plasma

2x Melta

Then for the Wolf Scouts give one scout a plasma pistol.

Can this build be done, or are there better builds available? His usual opponents all play various power armoured armies.

If he already got that pack of plastic scouts i would give one an H.Bolter. Where you are abeld to give two scouts per troop a plasmapistol. Then equip the both other models with Bolter or boltpistol and combatknife. The choice to build 2 10men troops of Greyhunters would be a good one and also the equip... But there are even a lot of more options you can equip them also with...

Spacewolves got no sergants like the most other SM. That way you can give the sergant options to any model in your troop.

As an exempel: you got 10 greyhunters and equip one of em with the plasmagun for its costs and an other with the meltagun for free. The next one changes his chainsword for an powerfist and another his boltpistol for an plasmapistol. Then you can give one the mark of wulfen(best not the guy with the powerfist) and any of em will be bannerd. ......

You can decide to give a singel model more then one of this option if you want to ....

Where you could build with the bits from that kit also wolfguardians, Lonewolfs, a Wolflord .... (With a litle bit cuting and gluing again your friend could also build a runicpriest or wolfpriest)

Where the "buy one get one free" on gh only works if they are on theyr maximum troopstrengh of 10. If they are less you could only equip one with a flamer/plas.gun/meltagun but all the other options stay anyway. Minimum troopstrengh gh is 5. I hope this helps a bit

Box had lots if plasma guns/pistols but no meltaguns or flamers. Should be 4 plasma guns, 4 axes, 4 power swords, 4 thunder hammers, 4 sets wolf claws, 4 power fists, 4 shields & 8 plasma pistols in the Space Wolves starter box. Scouts have a heavy bolter but don't remember plasma pistol count

Two PG's, two MG's in two packs kitted however else one favors is usually good.

Not that I won't likely get some heat for saying it, consider picking up one or two of the new 6th Ed. SM Tac Boxes; the massive gain in manpower and bits quality will prove highly worthwhile.  Plus, you'll have more Astartes, and more Special Weapons to play around with in this case.

Edit:

Also, just recalled, here's two possible models to build, one makes a Wolf Priest, the other, a Rune Priest.

Wolf Priest:

- Wolf Head Helm

- Wolf Skull Front Torso

- Rear Torso: one Bare, or the Wolf Pelt Back Torso

- Wolf Pelt Legs

- Wolf Pelt Right Shoulder Pad

- Normal Left Shoulder Pad

- Bolt Pistol Left Arm

- Thunder Hammer Right Arm: cut off the hammer just above the power plate on the haft, and glue on or pin the wolf skull with wings backpack bit.

- Either the PA backpack of choice, or a Jump Pack if one is available

Rune Priest:

- A really nice beardy head

- The nicest looking front torso to go with it

- The other bits are your call, however...

- The 2H Power Axe can be lopped off, and then if one uses the pair of wolf skulls glued to the staff's slimmed down head, clipping the axe head off the bit to allow these two to be affixed, all this should come out to make a Rune Priest from the SW PA Box.
