Probing interest for BA articles

Good morning brothers!

I would like to probe our community concerning interests in BA articles. As a seasoned old fogey in the hobby with lots of time on my hands, I would like to contribute to helping the young pups. It could be anything ranging from :

  • How to do X, either in painting, sculpting, converting or magnetizing
  • General strategy concepts applied to 40k - Denial, mismatching, isolating and stalling
  • Tactical analysis and breakdowns of match ups or dealing with specific army compositions
  • Evaluation of non-codex units and potential allies and what they bring to the tables

Which topics would you like to see and why? Do not limit yourself to what I listed as examples, as they are merely just that. I'd like to know what you guys want to read more about - or perhaps see a specific topic revisited.

All of the above? tongue.png

Actually I'd be happy with a comprehensive ally article. It would be useful for an article I have a draft of and I don't think there's one covered in our tactica (most of which is arguably out of date anyway).

Second that. I'd love to see what allies can bring, I've got DA so I sometimes throw them into a list but been thinking about IG and as I’m not Hector Reblay I can't afford to throw money at other armies.....

All of that lol

But I'm not a young pup An old one that is still trying to get to grips with it all since becoming a weekend dad Long work hours mean I don't get the amount of games I could do with for the practice so any helpful gaming tips are always welcomed from this old flesh tearer

The problem with any tactica article today is how fast the meta is transforming. Even a simple supplement codex can snowball across the different armies, rendering advice inaccurate or even counter productive.

So either be prepared to constantly update them or leave it be and try to answer as questions pop up on the forum.

I can't say no to any of your suggestions. :)

1. An up to date evaluation of the tips and tricks available to our beloved legion.

2."Easy" solutions to conversions/details. :)

3. Making awesome bases for infantry/walkers.

What ever you do it'll be awesome so no pressure. :tu:

@ t4play well, when I speak of fogeys and pups it's in hobby sense. I am 26, but I've been in this hobby for over a decade ;)

@ Knife&Fork I am aware of that. However, I prefere to give guidelines and general advice rather than strict rules that do not hold true outside of a specific setting. So it will probably last until next edition, or a completely new meta crushing codex.

As long as you keep it neat and simple that sounds doable, but the line between general guidelines and strict rules can be very blurry.

The tactica section could use an overhaul, should probably be purged every 6 months or so if it's going to stay relevant.

It will be. Whenever I train clients for work, it's always with the scope of teaching them how to fish, and not just feeding them. It will be built around the reader making a decision for himself in the presence of information, not the information telling the reader what to do.

one thing that is specific and kind of time less is the art of deepstriking. BA tends to favor an aggressive army and with Desent of Angels even more reliably so from the sky. I have always found particular trouble deciding distances priorities of targets as well as wether to take that gamble to drop in the face of the enemy. I think a comprehensive tactica of the art of deepstriking (where, when, and with what) would be a benifit to the community. This is for non drop pods btw but i guess they coulb be added too, but there is much less involved as they are kinda easy-mode.

My next Over the top army list uses 2 deepstriking landraiders, I will also make a repository for them.

Yeh ive done this    well actually was my sons list i just added two scout squads and dumped them within 6"  but sometimes it was hard because if oponents guessed where i was going to put them they put units spread out on thier turnand then terrain  you soon ran out of drop area  when it worked it was great fun  turn they landed flame the hell out of stuff   assault with the 11dc plus reclusiarch and the assault squad in the second one . . but if they didnt land a few turns it was painfull for the scouts

There are many units that for one reason or another that see little use in our Codex. Others, such as a full Bike Squad or Tactical Terminator Squad often require a list to be built around them. I'd be interested to see your take on those.

Also new updates for Jump Pack units and best uses in 6th would be helpful. As a new blood angels guy who is looking at starting BA I was drawn in by the Jump Packs. Of course 90% of what I read is jump packs are dead in 6th or full jump pack is dead so don't try it. This of course isn't very helpful but a few tips would be nice. The idea that the BA who became, I know the always weren't the jump pack chapter but they are now, so Jump units are a duh I know but making them work in 6th seems to be tough to find any kind of article on.

Thanks,
DoC

As a new gamer I'd like an extensive guide on our HQ choices. I know Mephiston is a badass but what about our other characters? Who to use in what situations and assigned to what kind of unit.

Any HQ that is a big no and you should never field?
