Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i am a huge World Eater and HH fan. I started 30k just for fun and fluff and now i am really getting into it. I just started painting for real about 6 months ago. I have slowly bought and painted some stuff with no real direction or critiques other than recently over at Heresy 30k.  I figured i would share my journey with my Fellow 30k ers. Thanks guys please feel free to critique, suggestions are always welcome. I wil begin posting my progress shortly

Nice!!!! I'm digging the blue on these guys. If I could make one recommendation. It's a personal peeve of mine when simple red paint is applied as blood. With GW's new Blood specialist paint (great stuff) its super easy to get some awesome effects without the cartoony blood. Your painting skills arr very good and its awesome for someone to push the limits of their comfort zone. Anyways thats my .2c! I look forward to seeing more! Angron looks bomb man!

Good start with your World Eaters betrayer41 if I may make a suggestion for blood techniques I feel Tamiya clear red is the best paint for the job. Mix a little black ink in with it for dark look and apply this over the top of the pure red, the best part is it goes thick quite quickly so you can add a bit of texture to it.

This is my Astral Claws Dreadnought from a couple of years back using Tamiya clear red

Well look who's back! :)

Great Khârn, a lot of attention to detail and nice weathering effects! The white looks great too!

The only two comments that come to mind is the lack of blood stains (this is Khârn after all) and the blue looks a bit flat... Maybe it's the picture but I think it could use some highlighting.

Great effort there, a very dynamic figure to be sure!

Well hello there betrayer, good to have you around!

First up, fantastic workcon the WE so far, some great painting on your units. I'm particularly impressed with the blue you're getting. It's very striking, and one of the best colour hues I've seen on a WE thread.

Secondly, Khârn. Looking absolutely great so far. I'm a big fan on the accuracy youve painted the helmet grille, those fins on the rebreather are a nightmare to get right!

I love the way how the model design forces you to focus on his face and chest. This is where you come into your own, the detail and way you've captured the natural contours on the chest make it pop.

If I had to offer a crtitique, it would be that the white lacks definition. I know white can't be a horrorshow of a colour to get right, but have you considered doing a number of highlights or some washes? There's some large flat areas on any astartes mini which can prove a nightmare if you havent got the range of the armour colour to have numerous shades.

Might be also worth looking at some weathering powders for the feet/lower legs. Those World Eaters are known for getting their hands dirty/bloody after all...

Great work anyway man, I'll be following!

Thanks for all he comments and advice....i have been experiemnting with washes im picking up drakenhoff nightsahde to try with sepia lahmian medium and nul oil...im going to try it out on a despoiler.

I defintiely agree though it needs some type of wash to bring it all together. Any suggestions on a wash or wash combo?
