Renegades in the heresy

So I've noticed that they're are a lot of istvaan survivors roaming around together as they are adhoc and I wondered.

What do you think about a warband of renegades that have ran from their respective legions.

Deserters, marines that were left to die, lone wolve types and those that claim no allegiance roaming like a kill team.

Maybe a kakophini who hated that his perfect flawless feature and legion were corrupted so deserted after istvaan iii or a Terran space wolf that found Russ's extreme hate of the thousand sons unneeded and their deeds tarnished

Yeah see I'm thinking having the cost and rules for each unit.

For example;

So a 10 man tac squad

-space wolf deserter

-Dark angel sgt that felt betrayed due to censure and rather return to caliban took his squad and went towards terra

-salamander orphan

- sons of Horus justaerian that hated abaddon for his betrayal of the mournanval painted his armour as a luna wolf after faking his death

Etc etc

Sounds like a neat idea. The one thing I'd advise against is going with the Kakophoni idea you first mentioned; by the time they became known as such, they were pretty well down the road of elective gene-tampering. That's not to say you couldn't still use an EC, just that he wouldn't likely be a Kakophoni if he rejected the transformations wrought on the legion.

"Within this ragtag group of survivors and renegades are two or three marines in un colored armor, with no rank insignia, and aside from a faded XI on their shoulders bare no markings whatsoever. They are Terran born is the only thing anyone really knows about them as they always talk about the unification wars with a mixture of pride and regret in their voices. Their eyes show a life of sorrow and hate. One of the brothers carries a chain with an Aquila on it. The Aquila has been defaced and the wings broken in anger. It is his most prized possession as it reminds him of what he should never forget. They won't talk about their past and no one in the ragtag group of renegades asks them about their former legions. Everyone knows it's best left unsaid..."

I could see this as a thing. I mean from a purely fluff standpoint (ignoring my fanboy isms in the first bit of my post) their is no way that others did not slip through from the traitors side and their are reports of loyalist refugees appearing into the terra system. Also sense there is no religious motive driving the 30k marines for the most part (looking at you Word Barrers) it would make sense that some would find the renegade life more appealing than in 40k. Especially if some of these legionaries had to watch their families killed, and their homes destroyed by the legions before they were taken away to become legionaries.

Cool idea

Brother Adrias Tyrian: former legionnaire from legion XII.

Status: Tratorus Renegade.

Crime: Desertion.

Former rank: Legion Sargent.

Personal attributes: Sargent Tyrian was attributed to be a quick learner and very skilled tactician (at trait not common in the XII) and was on the fast track towards becoming an officer. When the legion as a whole adopted the personal augmentics known as the "Butchers Nails" Sgt. Tyrian refused (reasons stated: Adrias clammed that the "nails" would dull his tactical sense and would be a curse upon the legion that he would never take part in) making him somewhat of an outcast within his chain of command. Shortly after, during the destruction of the planet Pythor, Adrias went missing and it is believed that he abandoned the legion.

It is believed that the events surrounding Brother Tyrian's selection and induction into the legion

may have played a role in his disappearance. He was among a number of recruits taken from the

world of Daxitar during the legion engagement there. The engagement ended in the destruction

the planet.

Lol a black Irish Catholic (*note this doesn't mean black African. I am black Irish which means that we have paler skin and dark black hair. Oh and we only drink Jameson, because Bushmills is for those p**** northern Irish who are british huggers)

oh and a little proud if not narcissitic :D

haha my family from my fathers side were once nobles in Ireland and my last name means War-like for our hot blooded temper. Ahh genetics

If you make Catheric gaellic renegade who worries more about saving the humans he is no longer of, then I might have to find you some time in this life and buy you a pint of guinness for your troubles

What about the Centurion of an Ultramarine Destroyer formation

who survived the Underground War of Calth and is extremely unhappy with both the Traitors and with Guilliman for leaving him to die and the whole "Imperium Secundus" thing?

"My name is Caius Petronius. Brother of the despised and abandoned, son of a murdered world, loyal servant of the TRUE Emperor of Mankind, and I will have my vengeance. In this life, or the next."

I'm liking the sgt of the WE thanks boater he shall be the first I make.

Wade I never thought I'd build an ultra but you sold me on that idea, destroyer ultra centurion it is ;)

And :cuss me DC I swear are we family? I want my counts as praetor to be my Irish brethren and now to figure out where/what is Ireland post unification

Anaziel I think a rune priest that's turned from Russ due to ignorance and the censuring of the TS is brilliant

Thought you might like the WE

I'll have one from my other idea (the lost legion renegades) for you later when I can finalize a little bit of his character while staying with the current trend of "not talking while still talking about the lost legions)
