under shields

And we're back to bring Voids...

(I played Eldar in RT! But I'm GK from 4th onwards!)

Only one of two options, the other of wich was just as valid. Theres also hiding in cheap as chips rhinos before the shunt, or using the formations of fortifications to give you strongpoints to hide in for a turn.

i get that they might be able to take most of the sheilds out in a turn. but all i need is a turn. push shield generators to the edge of my deployment zone and with the 12 bubble my jump infanty is going to be safe half way across the board. and then im looking at assault range with a full strength army and they have been bloodied by my tanks in return. so good chance i get first blood and my blood angels could move safely across the board what is not to love here? i just shut down enemy shooting and made this a melee game

The neutral zone is usually 12" right?

So if you set up your Void on the edge of you DZ, then it covers the whole neutral zone.  Your opponent deploys on the edge of thiers, and walks 1" into it.  Nulifying your Void Zone, and gaining benefit of it themselves.

They then Rapid Fire your Assault units, and wait to overwatch you.

No... its 12" from the center line, or 24" total. So theyd have to make it 13" to make it an inch inside the shield. In any case, over 12".
