nurglez
So recently I aquired a tzeentch daemon army. and have only played one game with them (which I lost). There is a doubles tournament at my local friendly gaming store this sunday. So i thought I'd take them for a spin. Special rules for the tournament is all armies are allies of convenience, and no allies in the 1000 points (including inquisitor I believe). Also no stronghold or escalation. After hearing all armies would be allies of convenience I came to the thought that this would be the one time I could ally with Grey Knight's and totally break fluff, a chance too good to be denied! After discussing what was in our armies we realised we hadn't made a great choice, but decided that we would just try and have a laugh rather then taking a better choice in chaos and imperial/tau. Unfortunately any rolls on the warpstorm table that can target an enemy will risk hurting my ally, but fateweaver could help (if I choose, killing my own ally could be funny). So I present to you, my half of Team Heresy. Fateweaver tzeentch herald, grimmore, mastery lvl 2 10 horrors 10 horrors 9 flesh hounds Daemon prince of tzeentch, mastery lvl 2, wings, lesser. I believe the best chance daemons have is to take a scary MC, give it a 2++ save, then to throw it at the enemy and let them try and deal with it while the support units win the game (grabbing objectives etc). Only 3 rolls in total to try and get forewarning but gotta go for it Prince grabs the staff of explody, cos cinematic! Could lose a mastery level to take another exalted as I have 6 points spare. Giving me the option for portal or something offensive like the doomstone or eternal blade, but not sure. TheDevourer
Sounds like a fun idea. And killing a grey knight or two is always worth it :P. So yeah go for it ;). I would probably stick with the mastery level though. nurglez
So unfortunately the friend who was bringing grey knights was too ill to come, he had man flu, though I believe it was nurgle trying to screw over tzeentch Luckily, a 3rd friend was coming along, and he didn't have a partner. He brought orks. Ghazza, 18 shoota boys with pk nob. battlewagon with dethrolla, 7 loota's, dakka jet and 5 nob bikers. I was tempted to bring chaos instead, as the unholy alliance had been shattered, but I wanted to try out my daemons so stuck with them. first game was vs marines and nurgle chaos. relic. we won 2-0, gaining first blood and I killed the marine warlord with my flesh hounds. Highlight of the game was on the second turn, my friend's dakkajet came in gunning for a rhino, only to be destroyed by the warpstorm table, which then also killed the rhino. second game was 5 objective crusade, vs tau and noise marine chaos. We lost 10-3. My friend and I screwed up loads in this game, but were really helpful to our opponents. It was a painful game vs a gunline army, and only killing both enemy warlords and having my prince survive grabbing line breaker gaining us any points at all. Third game was a modified relic game. Relic was a pariah who you could escort off the board for more points, and whoever killed it got -2 points, vs Iron hands and mixed wing dark angels. we won 6-1, having grabbed the pariah first turn and killed belial with a warpstorm table result. while my horror squad dropped in the backfield gained line breaker. Forth game was a mission from escalation. 3 objectives on the centre line, and while in possession of them you gain buffs. They are armour 15 with a 4++, but any glancing or pen hit will destroy them, vs Dark eldar and imperial fists. we won 9-4 grabbing first blood and warlord in our first turn, giving us a nice lead. at the end we had 2 and line breaker too. After adding up all the tally's 1 team had won all 4 games, and 3 teams had won 3 lost 1, us included. Unfortunately we missed out on second or third and came forth due to victory points. But still a solid result out of 17 teams. Quite a few things could have gone different in the second game. My friend foolishly rolled his assault dice before they could say if they would overwatch or not. It was an 8 inch charge over difficult terrain, though ghazza did have fleet. Also I foolishly bunched up my hounds, forgetting my opponent had str 8 blasts. They got the first turn and it really really hurt. I'm looking forward to getting more games in with my daemons. And am aiming to get a 1500 list to go to throne of skulls March. Though I'm considering chaos allies or BL ones. My prince charged this warlord while fate weaver had dealt with the outflanking slannesh lord and cultists. Orks play smart and grab the pariah while my daemons run interference. Hounds got whittled down and charged by a beefed up chapter master on bike. But 2 doggies held him up for 3-4 rounds of combat. The gambit fails, and 2 victory points are handed to us on a plate. Prince makes a threat of himself, but its not easy to kill something with a 2++ rerollable save is it? And game finished. dark eldar should have jumped out and assaulted to contest, though we still would have won :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284402-1000-point-each-doubles-tourny-on-sunday-allying-with-gk/#findComment-3548881 Share on other sites
