Gideon999
Hey all, I have 2 questions that I am hoping the community can help me with : Lets assume I have an IC attached to the unit of grav cannon centurions and that IC is equipped with a longer range weapon, such as a missile launcher (yeah I know this is not a legal weapon but for this question it will make sense). The rules state that you can only kill models in your guns range band when shooting (such as the 24" band on grav cannons) and any other wounds that would have to be allocated to models outside that band are discarded. Ergo - a lot of people would include a longer range gun to remove this penalty (our figurative missile launcher). Does the long range gun actually have to fire to qualify or does it just have to be present in the unit in order for us to keep those wounds allocated to the models more than 24" away? Also – does slow and purposeful on one model confer that to the rest of the squad? IE - would the cent's give the IC the ability to fire that missile launcher on the move at full BS or would he have to snap fire krak missiles to allow this to work? Hope that makes sense! Thanks! Dam13n
The slow and purposeful rule states a unit that contains at least one s&p model benefits from the rule. The weapon range question has been asked many times and is a can of worms as far as the OR is concerned. See: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283115-another-question-on-shooting-range-vs-wounds-allocation/ For what I mean by "can of worms". Gideon999
Well in this case as long as the SnP rule confers to the IC, it will be a moot point I guess anyways since he has no reason not to shoot. Thanks for the help! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284472-centurion-shooting-questions/#findComment-3544925 Share on other sites
infornography
Here is a brief explanation as I understand it. If the enemy is 36" from that unit none of the centurions can even fire at it, but the missile launcher can If the enemy is a unit that ranges from one guy 24" from all the centurions and they are strung out to 36" away then if the centurions did not have the missile launcher with them, they could only wound the guy 24" away. With the missile launcher with them, IF the missile launcher hits and wounds, then the centurions can wound the entire unit if they do enough damage to do so. The missile launcher does nothing to increase the range of attacks, but it can increase the range of the wounds of the cents. Hope that makes sense. The missile launcher does not need to hit or wound for the centurions to wound further, it just needs to fire. Magpie
It doesn't even need to fire, it just has to be in range. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284472-centurion-shooting-questions/#findComment-3545833 Share on other sites
