Banks
Hello guys,i just recently discovered these forums as i am returning to 40k after a long break(all hobby shops near me shut down, new one is up). But i am trying to get this kind of pale blue tone that Piotr Michalek did with his Daemon Prince's flesh which you can see at Games Workshops website. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/wnt/blog.jsp?pid=3300058&_requestid=230755 . Can anyone possibly help me with this? Or just point me in the right direction? Ammonius
my poor advice is that you want to take white, and carefully add blue to it, not the other way around. Welcome to B&C and good luck! Demus Ragnok
You may try a white base coat and then use a blue wash. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284485-trying-to-get-a-pale-blue/#findComment-3545205 Share on other sites
Bung
You will find a guide for that blue in this book: http://miniaturemiscellany.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/eavy-metal-masterclass-700x700.jpg?w=614 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284485-trying-to-get-a-pale-blue/#findComment-3545260 Share on other sites
RazorDaemon
That kind of pale blue I would agree, white base and use washes. Both Drakenhof and something to tone it down, like a tiny bit of Nuln Oil. Hemal
I'd start at the mid tone, shade with Drakenhoff and nuln oil, and then highlight up through to an off-:cusse on the raised ridges, defined muscles etc.. Hemal
Aye - the (upper-)mid tone. Its easier to move from mid tones through to the deep shades and up to the highlights, mainly because then you are working in smaller, more controlled areas. a big flesh area like this doesn't work particualrly well if washed or glazed all over.. Bung
Depends how you work and with the material you use. I prefer working from the darkest tone to the brightest, but thats something everyone needs to try out for himself. The best way for me with this big miniatures or others in 54 or 70 mm size is to work with an airbrush. First step is base coat in black and after that dried doing the highlights with white. Then going on from dark tone to white again. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284485-trying-to-get-a-pale-blue/#findComment-3545426 Share on other sites
