Trying to get a pale blue

Hello guys,i just recently discovered these forums as i am returning to 40k after a long break(all hobby shops near me shut down, new one is up). But i am trying to get this kind of pale blue tone that Piotr Michalek did with his Daemon Prince's flesh which you can see at Games Workshops website. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/wnt/blog.jsp?pid=3300058&_requestid=230755 . Can anyone possibly help me with this? Or just point me in the right direction?

Aye - the (upper-)mid tone.  Its easier to move from mid tones through to the deep shades and up to the highlights, mainly because then you are working in smaller, more controlled areas.  a big flesh area like this doesn't work particualrly well if washed or glazed all over..

Depends how you work and with the material you use.

I prefer working from the darkest tone to the brightest, but thats something everyone needs to try out for himself.

The best way for me with this big miniatures or others in 54 or 70 mm size is to work with an airbrush.

First step is base coat in black and after that dried doing the highlights with white.

Then going on from dark tone to white again.

Ok, i start with the whole blue skin thingy.

Colors are the old range.

1. Basecolour, the color is mixed with 2:1 Dheneb Stone with Ice Blue

2. First shade is the Bascolor with some Regal Blue and than thinned for the defination of muscles etc.

3. Second shade 2:2:1 Scorched Brown Liche Purple and Chaos Black

4. some clean up with the Basecolor.

5. First Highlight is 3:1:1 Dheneb Stone, Ice Blue and Kommando Khaki

6. Second Highlight 3:2 Dheneb Stone and Skull White

7. Third Highlight 1:1 Dheneb Stone and Skull White

8. Last Highlight with Skull White
