Also, I could have sworn I took a photo of this guy when I finished him, but apparently I didn't:

  • 1 month later...

Since the only of my DIY Chapters I've collected to any degree are the Angels Ascendant, I suppose I would use Sanguinary Guard models. They're ornate enough, that's for sure. Command Squad, Commander, Dark Angels Vets/Ravenwing stuff, Death Company, Chaos (for older mark arms with gloves, older weapons). Or converting character models.

I've used a metal Veterans box I bought from our favourite on-line auction site (the set with the big 2-headed axe) and I am using Deathwatch bolt guns to set them off a bit against standard marines.  I am also going to use some Vanguard Power Weapons to fill them out.

I also have a SM Captain from the 2008 Games Day (the Thunder Hammer one) which will be my Chapter Champion.

As for a standard bearer, not got that far ahead yet!

Any particular kits you guys recommended I get to make some honor guard??

I'm currently working on some Honour Guard too, and like others have used the Sanguinary Guard legs and torsos. It's not too much work to remove the Blood Angel iconography. Aside from general bits box stuff I'm pretty much raiding the new plastic veteran boxes for bits. They provide fancy weapon arms - Vanguard especially as you'd expect - and lots of detailed shoulder pads and helmets to pick from.

Sadly mine are on temporary hold at the moment as I work on other things and try and decide what poses I want for them! That may well have to change after seeing the ideas here... I know it's not an option now but what did you use to create the grenade launchers Disruptor as they look really cool?

I used Anvil Industry grenade launchers (I had actually the older version which didn't come with alternative grenades) with some cutting, Anvil Industry scopes, and Tigrus pattern bolters.

Planning on making a honor guard for my chapter master.

Here is what it would be in my army list:

Chapter Master:

The Armour Indomitus, Power Sword, Storm Bolter, digital weapons, Auspex, melta bombs,     Total: 230 points

Honor Guard:

1 Chapter Champion, 5 Honor Guard.

Honor guard with  Storm Bolters  + bolt pistols for range weapons, 1 lightning claw, 1 power fist, 3 power swords and the Standard of the Emperor Ascendant.

Chapter Champion with Power weapon, bolter and bolt pistol.

Drop pod.

Total: 325 points

I want them to look more ornate than an ordinary command squad so i am thinking of building them using the sternguard veteran kit as the base for them and equipping them, spare command squad kit weapons, spare captain kit weapons and some extra sternguard storm bolters and a Finecast Emperor's Champion for the
chapter champion with a bolter added to him somewhere.

I have already ordered the extra sternguard storm bolters, command squad banner + weapons and ill order the champion to be delivered to my local store in 2 days, ill probably buy the sternguard later.
