Durfast Spiritwolf
I really enjoyed this one, it was refreshing to see a less perfect image of a member of the VI. Kasper_Hawser
Heard about this. Although in typical GW fashion, instead of the book being about the Great Wolf himself, the main character seems to be someone else. Is that true? How long is this short by the way? I've only read the Kraken short before. Is it as long as Kraken or does it feel shorter? SeanyPrawny
Shorter and yeah follows another character however does give great insight into logan that I doubt you would get otherwise. I was reading it thinking what am I reading till the last page then was stunned by how good it was. The term 'brother' is used too much for my liking though, as in at all. Doesn't feel right to me for the 6th Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284593-logan-ebook-short/#findComment-3547543 Share on other sites
Conn Eremon
Thing is, I'm not too sure what the guy did wrong to get this treatment. The guy is accused of "stealing" a Blood Claw's kill, but it described it as if the maligned guy lays in the mortal blow and the Blood Claw shows up and immediately gets killed by the beast's "death throes." And then the Blood Claw fires off an instinctive shot before he himself falls dead. But it doesn't say anything about that shot. If it hit the Ork or not. If it did, does that make it the Blood Claw's kill, when the mortal blow had already been dealt, by the guy who claimed the kill and trophy? The only thing I could see him being wrong about was that he neglects to tell anyone about the Blood Claw. Bit selfish, considering the pup died trying to aid him, but not an example of kill-stealing. Kasper_Hawser
LOL, if you thought bromance is inappropriate for the Sixth Legion, you better not read Blood of Asaheim. Even knowing that Grey Hunters are close knit packs who fight until all of them dies or are promoted to Wolf Guard, the level of "bromance" between the pack in BoA is enough to make a homo-phobic guy like myself uneasy. I still don't think that anything sexual goes on (not unlikely in a purely male organisation), but I think Chris Wright was trying to convey how close pack members are to each other compared to other Codex Tactical Squads, which can change their members as and when the situation warrants it. He did his job a little too well and as a result, many other readers get the impression of intense bromance going on between the pack. Hmmm, may pick up the e-short if it does give some insight into Logan. Night Runner
I liked it, although I think the Advent short of Bjorn is better written. It is refreshing to see a Space Marine Chapter Master go out of his way to defend the memory of a brother Space Wolf he does not know. I still have to read BOA, but I have so much HH stuff to finish first. Kasper_Hawser
BoA is basically the adventures of a Grey Hunter pack, with a little war in the background and an emerging conspiracy specifically targetting the Space Wolves. Nothing really epic compared to the HH series, but very entertaining and insightful towards seeing how Grey Hunters work and relate to each other. The main chemistry is that one of the GH is returning from decades of secondment to Deathwatch and find it difficult to reintegrate back into the pack. Quite well written although like I said, the feeling of bromance comes out rather strong. Bjorn as Lone wolf.... maybe I'll pick that one first. Durfast Spiritwolf
I didn't note any 'bromance', just the usual close unit dynamics I experienced as an infanteer. Then again, I don't suffer from homophobia ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284593-logan-ebook-short/#findComment-3553817 Share on other sites
Leif-thunderstand
I am with Durfast on that. Its just normal in a military unit. You get on with your troop like family, sharing anything witg anyone. Anyone ever bin in an army knows it has no homoerotic aspects.
