Sanguine_Knight
I found the templates but am not sure how and where to use them. If anyone out there wouldn't mind taking the time to explain, I would greatly appreciate it. I can figure things out if I'm pointed in the right direction I found the place where I think I'm supposed to input the code but not sure what goes in the first one line box. The larger box I assume is where the code for IA goes. JeffTibbetts
Not sure what you mean by first one line box… You basically want to do two things. 1. Make sure you write your IA on your computer, somewhere else, and arrange it into the form you want it to take. Edit it there. It's much easier. 2. When you create a new post, you do it just exactly like a normal old post. Copy in the stuff you wrote. Then, go through and start replacing your text headers with the code ones you picked. I trust you found the ones you like? It helped me to save that code elsewhere as well. You can always edit it later. I think my first couple versions didn't even have headers. I put them in later. When you go to edit that first post, click on "More Reply Options" so you can get the full editor. Don't be shy, dude. Post it up and we'll all take a look at it. EDIT: Sorry if it wasn't clear, but you actually put the code for the headers right into the editing window. Try it and then preview it to see how it works. As with any coding on the web, some wonkiness is to be expected so play around with it if it doesn't look correct right away. Sanguine_Knight
Thanks a lot brother. I am going to work on the rough outline tonight. Just getting the ground work done so I can have the info for the finished product. I am still tossing around a few ideas so I have to sort those out this evening. I will post a new thread for my outline. Thanks again! JeffTibbetts
Sure thing. Remember: everyone needs an editor. You've got a whole forum full of them. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284620-help-for-a-noob-with-using-diy-ia-templates/#findComment-3548207 Share on other sites
Iron Hands Fanatic
Don't worry if the 1st version of your IA gets a few responses saying the chapter seems over-powered, or super-special: thats usually the side effect of the enthusiasm you'll have in the first version. Plus, you're writing about post-human murdering machines who are supposed to be able to take out a whole planet in a unit of 100. Its kinda hard to make that humble. It'll fade with edits. Alternatively - kill c**p loads of your marines. Make some really cool characters and then murderise them. Just do it inventively. Thats basically what I did. When everyone in your IA is dying, people stop going "okay, a chapter full of (moderate :P ) psychic blanks is unreasonable" and start saying stuff like "okay, exterminatus is a tad extreme". Works wonders. Also: grimdark, grimdark everywhere. Grimdark in 40k is always good.
