Nurgle zombies and SM questions and background

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Years ago I converted some Nurgle zombies, sold them, move to other countries, forgot about the hobby and now I'm back in the hobby. Blah, blah, blah, borring...

I had tons of fun converting them and I' m thinking about starting building new ones.

Since I don' t play and I don't have enough storing space I'm just doing them for fun and probably end up selling them.

This to explain my question.

I read that zombies can only be played with Typhus (another mini that I sold) and are played as cultists with one/or no combat weapon, right ?

I'm debating between building zombies "rising from their graves" meaning that they can be from any origin (Imperial guard, workers, civilian, fallen enemies) or doing a recently gazed or contaminated Imperial guard regiment like they apparently did in the white dwarf of June edition.

What do you guys think ? Is Typhus turning enemies into zombies on the battlefield and they follow him around? Is he visiting morgues to recruit? Is it a power that Papa Nurgle gave him?

Once again I'm not a player, stopped playing at the 3rd edition and haven't been following the background for years but I like to stick to the background if there is one.

so I need help or bbbbrrrraiiiinnnnnnn (for the Master),

another question, which shoulder pad receive the chapter icon these days?

I see some on the left and others on the right.

cheers !

I can't help much on the plague zombie front (I do not believe it's ever been described in great detail), but the Codex Astartes dictates that chapter emblems are to be displayed upon the bearer's left shoulderpad. For the Deathwatch the Chapter emblem of the Marine in question is borne upon the right shoulderpad as the left pad is saved for the Deathwatch's unique heraldry.

Bear in mind that not all Chapters follow the Codex, however :)

For the Deathwatch the Chapter emblem of the Marine in question is borne upon the right shoulderpad as the left pad is saved for the Deathwatch's unique heraldry.

To add to that (and to confuse the matter), power armour marks five and six have bonding sutds implanted in the left shoulder and the chapter badge on the right. Terminators bear the Crux Terminatus on their left and their chapter badge on their right shoulder. There's also at least one power-armoured Veteran model I know of that has its Crux on the left, but traditionally the Crux replaces the squad markings if it is borne on the shoulder pads.

On the Typhus issue - well, nobody's gonna bring you up on it. This is Nurgle we're talking about! The chap who has a minion whose sole purpose is to record all the plagues and diseases in case Nurgle forgets which ones he's already made. One zombie plague might cause the dead to rise up, another might infect the living. Maybe it does both!

If you want a firm line, though, White Dwarf 282's Battle Report describes Typhus' zombies as reanimated corpses. However, the zombies infect those they attack - causing the dead guardsmen to rise back up when they die. Apparently there's further rules in Codex: Eye of Terror. Coincidentally, that issue has some disgusting zombie models in it.

arrghhh my brain hurts

left, right anything might goes

and chaos sm I guess can do whatever they want

I´ll check the WD 282 and the codex.

the good news would be that it means for me a wider spectrum of conversion if civilians can infect imperial guards

thank guyz

it helps

As for zombies. Just look at the types in films. Old and decaying all the way to blood infected that still look human till up close.

Personally though, GW has stifled creativity with the current Chaos Dex.

@ forte

couldn´t agree mor, Brother !

seems like creativity is a now a microwave dish

I´lll do whatever I like and if nobody is interested in, well, I have a trashcan ;)

With how the Work in Progress forum is at the moment, there's lots of people continuing to build fantastic looking armies. Even if the rules are a tad skewed.

Have a look over the Nurgle sub forum too. You'll be more likely to get answers too. And look for users like Jaspcat and Disease. Both are putting some great Nurgle minis together. Would say Nurglez too but he rarely paints his conversions (get ready for any response to that one :tu:).

I must say that the work displayed on the forum is pretty stunning

great creativity and lot of good and positive thinking

It really a great source of motivation and inspiration and progress in the hobby

love yall

Regarding the "microwave creativity" I was refering to GW creativity these days.

I had an overview on the Chaos codex and it pretty much stayed where I left it years a ago

which can be kinda normal since chaos is imteporal but still...

I believe I shouldn' t limit myself and maybe even distance myself from the GW references.

I must say that the work on the forum that blew my mind was 100% creation far away from any GW references and I even remeber wondering "where did he got that idea?"

anyway I'll stop by the GW store to get some of the minis that I need to zombiefie

i'll also work on some traitors GI and nurglish CSM

Two places to look for inspiration these days (GW wise) is Forge World and Black Library. Some of the writers have had a massive influence on people's armies. People like Aaron Demski-Bowden and Graham McNeil are prime examples.

The good thing on B&C is the lack of an elitist attitude towards modeling and painting. Everyone at all levels encouraging each other and sharing ideas and techniques. And the odd bit of banter too between factions ;)

I got a question though

Will I be abble to post them on b&c?

they were humans before but my idea is to Nurgle cultists and zombies based on zombies/goules/flagenlante maybe even skaven (after all rats are a vector for pestilence)

I have ideas of deformed cultist for Tzeench and maybe modified beastmen alike and dark elf wiches for Slaneesh cultists.

Would they be consider xenos or chaos?

If I can' t display them here, maybe I should find another project.

Just asking before investing in new models.

Any thoughts?

modos?

They're counted as part of a Chaos Space Marine force so there's no reason not to be able to. If you were posting a non-Power Armour (which also now includes Imperial Guard now due to allies) like Eldar, Nids, etc. Then that's a general no.
