Greeting!

Here I present the Bane of Daemons, King of Bards, Tamer of Beasts, Seducer of Women, Puncher of Heretics, Wielder of Axes, Grand daddy of awesome, the list goes on. Yes, it is Captain Flynt. The current head of my lost and cursed company and my equivalent of Logan Grimnar. The guy who surfs on asteroids, deep strikes by jumping out of the Battle Barge. There's a lot of stories about him among my buddies in my gaming group. The latest was him crashing an Eldar Craftworld in a Daemon World while doing the Wacken 40.999 inside and somehow surviving... Anyway, here is him WIP. He's my entry for the 3rd Annual Winter's Advance Oath.

Someone had a unused and almost broken body of Arjac lying around. Since I dislike the Logan Grimnar model, I decided to convert und kit-bash the living feth out of him to make a model worthy of his legacy.

Oh and don't mind Brother Wulfrik in the background. He is just taking out the new Battle Suit for a ride, priming it to blast some heretics.

Me too. My most important project yet. Gotta get the main Wolf Lord of the company a proper treatment. Just got myself another box of wg tda for some proper bitz and got my extract of nurgle (read: green stuff) ready for stomping. Thinking about putting him on a scenic scibor base.

Update time!

Please not that the Lion pauldron is a placeholder.

Anyway, nothing much has happened except kit bashing. Added a bit of ornamental fur padding under the pauldrons and side thingies. Gotta work on it a bit more, as well as fix the fur cloak and claw as I needed to cut everything apart. That would be the next step as well as getting an appropriate shoulder pad on the right.

The horns are an experiment. I am not sure if I leave them or go for more old fashioned tusks...

Also I need to find something appropriate for him to impale with his banner. I was thinking a cultists sorc/horror or tzeentch seeing as a Lord of Charge is integral to their companies background, mythos and curse. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Okay, haven't been posting much here lately, that is because I had a little debate with a friend on how to build Flynt. In the end I decided that I should be going extra steps and going out of my way to create an awesome model. Next update will follow soon which is basically the same model but with a different pose and subsequently feel, but more about that later.

Okay, here we go.

I spend half and hours trying to cut through the resin without destroying anything but I feel this pose is way better. I wanted to make a leader instead of a fighter. He will hold a banner and urging his men forward to victory. Yet nothing too aggressive because a cool leader has no reason to brag or provoke. He is honourable.

This is the banner he will be holding:

Replaced the GK head with a wolf head. Still WIP though.

The base was a conscious decision. At his feet there will be a dead Sorc of Tzeentch and the blood will be flowing over the lady's face in a manner that will make it look like blood tears. The Sorc will mark their nemesis and the curse than befell them (because of Tzeentch) while the blood tears are a symbol for the tragedy involved. Yet Flynt standing on top, defiant and stubborn to the end and going ever onward to glory. The pseudo-religious influence of the banner and other parts of the SW (also Tau counts-as army)  is part of their world and a symbol for their continuing faith in their old Company Master (very important person in the lore), Russ and the Allfather. The Wolf stabbing the Daemon is also a symbol for their continuous fight against Tzeentch's might, be it in the material world or in their minds and hearts and also the eternal struggle between the first Company Master and a particular Lord of Change. As I said, I'll put their story on here when it is done.

Very dynamic pose! I like it. His eyes line up realistically with the outstretched weapon and the positioning of the hand that will hold the banner really looks like he waving his men forward. Well done. Can't wait to see the finished project.

I actually liked the antlers better; they gave the model a bit of a Celtic feel, which I love. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the horns you replaced them with (and others like them) are just so common to the point of being uninspiring.

Ah, I certainly feel that. I wasn't sure either. The reason I chose to remove those were because antlers gave him too much of a mystic image, something more common with druids/shamans. He himself is a warrior, as such I thought to make something more generally agreable and simple like horns and I probably gonna put the antlers on a Rune Priest or Inquisitor counts-as. Lastly, I feel that is would overload the top. Still, thanks for the comment, I am still considering them. Maybe when I stop modelling and get the full image I might replace the horns again. Got to see how it turns out.
My thoughts exactly, antlers give a mysterious look and a TDA RP will wear 'em well. Whereas Flynt has to look powerful rather than mysterious and bigger (albeit more generic horns) manage that look. Gotta see what comes out in the end thought.
