exsanguis
Hey guys, I'm thinking about starting an Imperial Fists force, and am wondering if anyone has tried using the Castellan force org? I'm sutrggling to make a workable 2k army and would love to here some suggestions! hisdudeness
There is your first problem, 30k doesn't shine until 2500 pts. The alt FoCs are good, but very specialized. exsanguis
So how would one run a 2.5k Castellan force org, Imperial Fist themed? I don't have the rules for the redoubts or anything, so would it just be a Bastion or some Aegis lines? Thinking a Seeker Squad would go nicely with their BS5 on the Icarus or Quad-cannon. TheForgottenAngel
Well with Heavy Bolters being able to be mounted on Aquila Strongpoints thats a huge force multiplier for even a tactical squad or breacher squad on the walls. If I were you I would seriously think about going almost full breachers and support/heavy support squads on the battlements along with some sexy Vindicators to make a wall of guns and dozer shields. By the emperor would that be something to behold! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284765-castellan-force-org/#findComment-3551613 Share on other sites
Noserenda
Mine is at 3k points and I was running an aquilla w void missiles, 2 redoubt s and 2 battlecannon turrets with extra tank traps. Extra void shields on the bunkers and bs3 upgrade for the redoubts. Id definitely get stronghold assault btw ;) With a missile heavy squad in one bunker and a pair of rapiers I the other, 2 medusas hidden behind the aquilla and 50 tactical marines spread around for support and voxes ;) Its a lot of points on buildings but im hoping against a less savage army itll do better! Im contemplating dropping the aquilla for some trenches and a void shield generator or too, s : D weapons just instantly murder aquillas so 600pts on one is painful :/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284765-castellan-force-org/#findComment-3551624 Share on other sites
Dono1979
In social games I would recomend against the Aquila with Vortex, it creates a situation where your opponent (if they have a D-weapon) will simply target it first turn and remove it on a 2+. If they dont have a D-Weapon, removing a Vortex firing AV15 Mega Fortification is rediculously hard and time consuming. Even the Macro Cannon produces this kind of effect as well, but isnt quite as bad. I am planning to run an Imperial Fortress in my Castellan FoC, mostly in some scenario games though, then along with some Aegis Lines, Bastions and Skyshields, with lots of Breachers Squads, Tac Squads and then an armoured column for a sally forth force. Noserenda
Both aquilla loadouts are fairly brutal, id actually rate the cannon as more efficient, vortex is more fun though :) d weapons arent a problem really, well, single d weapons arent! The problem is that aquillas are ridiculously easy to kill with them :/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284765-castellan-force-org/#findComment-3551987 Share on other sites
TheForgottenAngel
Which is why you load up on the void shields and warm bodies! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/284765-castellan-force-org/#findComment-3552150 Share on other sites
