Black Legion (Wolves of Horus/"Oath-Broken")

Hello guys this is my first post on here. I have only gotten into table top gaming like 40k just a few months ago. I have always loved Warhammer 40k Horus Heresy novels. It is my time to jump into the hobbie. I have a lot of friends that played 40k and i love chaos (Minus slaanesh emp childern creep me out atm) and i thought i would get into it with a Chaos army. I was going to make a a generic Chaos army not in one flavor or another but when i heard that the black legion was going to come out i was like this is a great idea for a cool army list. So here is what i have so far.

Its Abaddon! I might as well make him the rag tag leader of the Black Legion this was before i started to come up with my own little fracture of the black legion. But he is finished.

 

What i have planned for the black legion is the Wolves of Horus (Name may change). There will be more info a bit later in the post.

 

But next is is the first squad of chosen. I have gone with a Oath-Broken but with a little twist. They are oath broken because of what happens TO them not of what they did. They are conversion of a Little Necron,Warriors of Chaos, and Chaos SM.

 Where each O.B. has taken combat damage on his armor the recently painted (in the last 10,000 years or so) black has chipped away to show the original sea-green of the Sons of Horus

Like all Oath-Broken, these two have taken some punishment on the battlefield. The marine on the left has fared a bit better than his counterpart on the right, only losing an exhaust vent from his backpack and having to salvage a basic steel helm in place of his ceramite one.

Sometimes an Oath-Broken gets lucky and is able to scavenge from a fallen loyalist marine, as the one in the center certainly has, though the backpack he found is a little worse for wear.

These final two Oath-Broken are the hot headed members of the bunch, rushing headlong into the thick of melee combat. Obviously such rash tactics haven't served the one on the left so well, and he's paid the price with an eye!

 

I will post more when i am able to. I will also post a little bit of fluff i have made for these guys. Once i get home i will be able to detail you on what this army will have in it.

But seriously, great dynamic poses on all of them. Nice glow effect on Abaddon too.

Some good looking Traitors the dual wielding axe Marine is Cool!!.

I like the worn and damaged look on these Traitors, makes them real veterans of the Long War. The eye patch and the necron arm is a nice touch.

Here is some of the fluff that i have been working on .

 

 

This squad is Oath-Broken, they failed their master and the leader of
the Black Legion Ezekyle Abaddon. This happened during the 10th Black Crusade.
In this Crusade Abaddon forged an alliance with Perturabo (the Primarch of the
Iron Warriors Legion IV). They took the fight to the Iron Hands home world (in
the Medusa system). As the battle raged on the home world of the Iron Hands
defeat seemed imminent. With all due haste Abaddon called for a retreat. With
this he selected ten squads to stay behind and so Abaddon and the rest of the
Black Legion could run away (Surprise!). This left 100 Black legion Space
marines along with all the attachments from the Iron Warriors the master of the
siege. Left behind by their Legion to die they fought tooth and nail for hours
on end (While their own Legion was already gone)and at their feet lay dead
100's of Iron Hands while protecting Iron Warriors siege units as they fell
back. Just as they were going to be over run a Landraider from the Iron
Warriors broke through and took in the survivors (there were only 9 grunts and
1 Champion). They made it to a landing craft and made it away.

 

 From this
day they went back to their old sea-green armor color and stayed with the Iron
Warriors legion as [Wolves of Horus]. This is when they got their Necron
augments.  They worship Horus as a [god].
As others heard from the Black Legion and all across the Warp their numbers began
to build up again. They are not as numerous as they once were but they have the
strength to avenge their fallen Primarch Horus and win Honor back for their old
legion. As the next Black crusade is about to begin they have been called to
honor the oath they made to Horus and to bring a dawn of a new era the way
Horus wanted. (The old champion that was “saved” is not the leader of the Wolves
of Horus he is the marine with the double axes. He did not want to take the mantle
of leadership after he lived and thinks that he lost his honor because he did
not die with his men. The current leader was a marine under little Horus
Aximand from the 5^th Company from the Luna Wolves.)

 

This 10 man squad are the 10 that were saved that
day on Medusa. They have become the leader of the Wolves of Horus and have
taken up the old Legion command structure, but with a little twist there is no
1^st company they have no terminators. The only one that does not command
a company is Aeglaeca Champion of Horus (the guy with two axes). The company
the leads this (mini legion) is the 5^th Company in honor of Little
Horus. They have become a Chosen squad to Abaddon for they are ruthless in
combat to repay the debt to Iron Warriors. As I said they do not worship any of
the chaos gods so they do not get the favor of the gods of chaos (very often
they do from time to time emit a boon of chaos in battle when they are fighting
for vengeance. The IV on their shoulder is the Bond they have with the Iron
Warriors. They are Oath-Broken because they failed to die!
