Wade Garrett
Marshals, it was the Death Guard who had an axe, or in their case scythe, to grind with tyrants and tyranny. To get "Good guy" non Loyalist World Eaters you'd probably have bluff and hearty fellows who let the noncombatants run away because there's no sport in killing those who can't fight back and hand out a quick death if you fight well. JeffJedi
I remember the Black Legion being ground down and then grown ing numbers under Abbadon as early as the 2nd edition codex. Aegnor
Wade, some of us like the idea that the traitors are fighting to end tyranny, but lose their way because Chaos is inherently corruptive. A lot of people seemed to really like that idea early on in the Heresy series, but that's not the story they've told. The expansion of the timeline to having the longer 'Age of Darkness' probably made it inpossible to do. Like all non-insane villians, they had a basis of a justifiable idea at the outset kf their actions, but really pretty soon that's all so far gone that they can't be considered merely naive misguided would-be heroes. They're malevolent, selfish, traitors.
