Memento Of Prospero
Good day brothers! I am looking for reference material on Ogryns. Lexicanum is rather lacking, and I would like to draft a short story concerning the beloved fervant servants of the Emperor. Anything would help! Frater Cornelius
http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Ogryn Try this, there's some more Info. I generally find Lexicanum lacking compared to other Warhammer themed Wiki sites. hendrik
the downside of ogryns is, that they characterwise lack depth due to their child-like develloped brain, making them not much smarter or comprehensive than a 5 year old at most... walter h
I have only heard of one Ogryn, character and that is Nork Deddog, a bodyguard. You essentially have an open concept. You will be the only one to give them a voice in the 40k, world. I say go for it! WarriorFish
Nork can even write his own name, which marks him as a genius among Ogryns Like hendrik you'll have your work cut out for you to make it interesting as there's only so much you can work with, though chances are they'll be smashing xenos into paste and there are a lot of ways you can write about that Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285003-creating-depth-ogryns/#findComment-3556918 Share on other sites
Chaeron
Yes, that said - you could expertly play off the fact that they do struggle intellectually in comparison to their battlefield strengths, and the interplay between that and perhaps others who may be more adjusted to life - but not necessarily the field of battle. Kierdale
I do recall there were some Ogryns in the short story Warped Stars in the Deathwing anthology. No break from the usual 'dumb-brutes' image, however. A nice read though. Willy Pete
If you can find it, the Warhammer 40,000 Compendium has a nice article about them. It starts off with a short (very short,) story about how an IG regiment uses them to break through an Eldar battle line. It ends as the sole survivor of the attack is receiving medical care (which consists of the doctor pulling fistfuls of Shuriken star fragments from his body,) and telling the officers about their attack. The Ogryn's main worry is twofold: Is the Emperor pleased with their actions, and what is going to happen to the other Ogryns' ration packs. Fun little story that seems to encapsulate the Ogryn experience.
