out of curiosity are the BTs the only known official chapter to abhor librarians?

what about iron hands i dint hear talk of IH libs. or what of the white and red templars who possibly successors from BTs

I was recently enlightened to the fact that the Marines Malevolent also adhere to the Edict.

The White Templars and the Red Templars are both Dornian Chapters, though whether they're Dornian by way of the Black Templars is unconfirmed (though I haven't read Legion of the Damned and the White Templars are at least mentioned in it).

Question for the OP: are you asking about what would happen in the Black Templars Chapter or are you asking what would happen in a Successor Chapter for which the Black Templars Chapter is the predecessor?

The phrasing of the question in the original post implies that it is within the Black Templars Chapter that the hypothetical incident takes place. However, the phrasing of the topic title implies that it takes place within a Successor.

This is a key issue because the actual circumstances and potential outcomes could vary significantly between these situations. First off, the lore doesn't support any latent psykers within the Black Templars Chapter. If a recruit with psychic potential were to survive the implantation process, the Black Templars likely wouldn't know what to do with him (and all of the knee-jerk hardline stances can remain quiet - we're talking about the new lore and not the old lore to which you are adhering). In a Successor Chapter, meanwhile, we have a number of variables. We can dispense with the debate about whether or not the Black Templars even have a Successor (none are known to exist, but the lore doesn't close the book on the possibility of one or more Successors of Sigismund's chapter). The question assumes that hypothetical Black Templars Successors don't have psykers within their ranks. Without knowing anything further about such hypothetical Chapters, it's impossible to provide any definitive answers. Some may harbor a distrust and hatred of psykers like the Black Templars pre-6th edition. For these, the mutant might receive the Emperor's Mercy. Alternately, a hypothetical Black Templars Chapter might not be averse to psykers; in which case we would face a whole range of options that might include seeking aid from external organizations to train up their psyker (in much the same way that the Adeptus Mechanicus trains the techmarines of a Chapter) to transferring the psyker to the Grey Knights (the Exorcists are known to do this with the most powerful of their psychic recruits) to a host of options in between.

Also, if this is about the Black Templars Chapter, the topic will be moved to that forum. Watching the knees jerk therein should be entertaining. msn-wink.gif

Aspirants are screened before implantation so if they are found to have any psychic potential then they would pose a threat to the chapter even without knowing by becoming possesed or drawing daemons to them. A bolter to the head can usually avert a daemonic infestation. Better safe than sorry.
