elithren
So as a result of all the little shenanigans other armies can do to move special rules around units, it got me thinking about what Space Wolves could do for similar effect, especially with long fangs. Sure, we have rune priests with divination for rerolls but it can be hit or miss with the fear of perils. But what about those who want to take the rune priest for the Jaws/lightning? Sure you could take two of them to get both, but I was thinking of other options as well. Logan is nice for the relentless, but you cant have more then one rule a turn, and you would want to give the relentless over any kind of rerolls for long fangs. And to be honest, I wouldn't take logan for him to sit in the backfield giving relentless to a missile squad/plasma/mm/insert favorite weapon here. So this got me to look at the wolf priest. Same cost as the rune priest, no powers, but grants fearless and PE of your choice each turn. Rerolling 1 may not be as good as complete rerolls, but rerolling half of the rolls you could possibly fail on a BS4 model makes it still pretty nice. Plus, the PE changes so your missile fangs can do Tank one turn for krack and then infantry for the next or MC. Ultimately, it's a wolfpriest vs a divination rune priest. I see the pros and cons for both and am leaning more towards the wolf priest for the sole reason of I'm tired of my long fangs running off the board because they lost a guy. What are the thoughts and opinions of the Fang? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285111-wolf-priests-and-long-fangs/ Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
If you want to use codex powers then you can easily get up to 2 inquisitors from an inquisitorial detachment to get yoir divination. They are BB after all. Besides, you have 4 HQ slots so what's stopping you from taking another rune priest instead of the wolf priest. The issue with the WP is that he only gives preferred enemy for one unit type and you choose it once before the game. He is only worth if when you know what army and what army type you are up against and when you know that there some hardcore anti psycher of which there are only 2 left: nids and other SW. Also preferred enemy is inferior vs anything with an AV. elithren
Well, I was reading that wrong. I thought it changed each turn ala logan's ability. Well, that concludes that discussion.
