Ultramarines!

Update.  Not sure on the bases- brown or black rims.

Weapons will be black, not red.

Getting ready to be out of town for about 3 months for training in a new job.  Will be taking the Ultramarines with me to give me something to do in the evenings.

I ended up going with dark brown rims.

An updated pic (class has me a lot busier than I figured I would be for the first 4 weeks!)

Well I thought I had highlighted the shoulder pads, but apparently not.

Tonight was all about transfers though. Just the squad numbers left for this group. Tomorrow hopefully will be weapons and varnish of the transfers. The unfinished bases are going to have to wait until I go home in a few weeks.

Also have some quasi-finished Imperial Fist tactical guys in my case I will try to do chapter symbols for tomorrow if I get really bored.

I suppose I shouldn't keep the sons of Dorn waiting...

And no, I don't think I would ever go back to painting yellow again...

Problem being away from home - I forgot my plastic glue, so I guess weapons are out for now :(

On a positive note, I have 2 test minis that won't take a lot of work to finish, so here's a shot of the whole squad.

Decals / markings are done on the first 5.

Took advantage of being let out of work early due to snow and got the base blue done on these 3.

The prime is a dark blue, followed by a coat of ultramarine blue.

Next I'm giving a coat of gloss varnish.

After the gloss, I'll put Drakenhof Nightshade in the recesses.

Highlight of Calgar blue then wolf grey edge highlighting.

After that I put on 3 coats of Guilliman blue glaze.

brother,

great job! Wish mine came out so nice. I have 5 squads on my desk and i am deciding on what gold to use for the chest and pad rims on the rest of my Army. I have used the Citadel Balthassar gold on 3 squads and Warpaint's Greedy Gold on 2 squads. So far I like the Warpaints gold but I have to do a second pass with Gehennas gold from the Citadel line on the other 3 squads. Then I will paint another squad using Valejo Liguid Gold line when it arrives from store. Trying stuff out now I am retired. I have 3 full companies of UM to paint and about 28 UM Tanks to do. Took advantage of a snow day from work / class to get a little painting done on the second half of the squad.  Apologies for the horrible lighting.
