Argent aquila Posted January 1, 2014 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Evening everybody.Since the lovely holiday break is still in swing, i got my butt in gear and decided to get my presents all put together . I have built units a plenty,A captain, 10 terminators, 5 assault 5 non, give or take 30 tactical marines ( 10 of which are delicious mkIV armor with tigrus bolters) a pair of dreads, one contemptor with an assault cannon and the other the assault on black reach model. 5 sternguard vets, a handful of assault marines, 2 rhinos, a predator, and a drop pod thats half completed...As far as color scheme goes, i am thinking of grey and red, or to go carcharodons... Don't really have a set course for much, so i'm looking for input from more senior modellers to me.Dont have pics just yet, first post and i'm still trying to figure everything out i'll get a couple less than stellar photos to post soon. Argent aquila Posted January 3, 2014 Author Share Posted January 3, 2014 So heres the second with red instead of yellow, And a third option i rather like, although its all greys it leaves perfect opportunities to add blood or other highlights to to the models, as i am equipping many of the standard line marines with blades of some sort, please throw out any ideas or comments as i'm still not decided on a color scheme, any of them look good to me :/ Ps, ignore the black on the pauldrens, it will be the same as the main armor, made a goof up :P Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Surreal Cruelty Posted January 3, 2014 Share Posted January 3, 2014 I would stick with the top one with the red eye lenses. The color differences between the grey shades in the second picture might be too subtle on a painted miniature. Though, you have the advantage that you could start with the 3rd option there, and if it is too subtle, you can use it as a shade layer for the brighter grey.  I would still keep the red eye lenses and the red skull. If you paint the skull in gold, you probably should paint the entire Aquila gold. Â I will take some assault on black reach tacticals and paint them up in the newest 2 fashions, if the weather ever gets warm enough to basecoat, you'd think that texas winters wouldn't be all that bad, but this year i'm quivering in my proverbial boots ;P. Â For the aquila, definately keep it red and black, and the pauldrens being black is growing on me... Hopefully tomorrow or sunday i can get those new technical paints tested as well, they look pretty cool on some of Duncan Rhodes' test models. Argent aquila Posted January 6, 2014 Author Share Posted January 6, 2014 status report, for anyone who's interested quick noob question to ask, i hate using flickr to get my images onto the site, and, although young, am not a computer wis like most kids my age, so, how do i post pics directly into the forums, the help section didn't really explain well enough to me on a different note, i have the first marine painted, crappy pictures after im done with homework... looks very dark as i was worried about, and the more popular color being lighter trim, makes me want to go with the light and the same grey as the armor on the poor soul who got picked to paint first... i was messing around with 3 of the new paints, not a big fan of the slime, and love blood for the blood god, need to work on how i apply it though. The base i made using that agrellan earth stuff, really like it, gonna do all my models in the stuff now... need more bottles. the rest of the new paints don't have a model to try on yet, so i will need to get some done before using them. now that high school is back in full tilt, i won't have as much time to make stuff, so it's back to lurking until the weekends, , although my model entry for wonderfest is quite in need of attention... _______________________________________________________________________________________________ warning: you guys who are on the American (although it is an international event) side of the forums should really look into wonderfest, it's the biggest sci-fi convention in the world, needs some Warhammer love, so i thought i would link the site for the contest here: http://www.wonderfest.com/ also allows fantasy models, if anyone like me, still does those. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ gotta get going on my geometry and world history now... anyways, have fun on this brand new year, keep up the amazing work as always brothers. Surreal Cruelty Posted January 6, 2014 Share Posted January 6, 2014 you go onto your Photostream, then you click on the pic you want to share. In the bottom left corner of the view, you will see a star, a comment bubble, and the share icon (which is a box with an arrow coming out of it). Click on the share button, and it will pop up with the URL of the image...select the size (keep it below 800), and select the "BBC" option. Copy and paste that URL, it will already have everything included to display the picture, along with the link back to flikr. Argent aquila Posted January 8, 2014 Author Share Posted January 8, 2014 thanks a lot the painted up tactical is really dark, and, being partially color blind, i need more contrast than what eshin grey and stormvermin fur together shows up as... so i will be trying the newer one i spewed forth from the marine painter, and hope it goes well. i just hope that i can transfer the colors from the program to the old color system, to the new one and keep the colors from being too different... or something like that, sorry, my brain is fried from the English homework I've been struggling with. that, and get enough time before school to paint them up in said matching colors, of course. for the emperor until death! Argent aquila Posted January 11, 2014 Author Share Posted January 11, 2014 okay, so I went around asking my family what they thought, asked some of my friends, (which, apparently most teenagers today don't know about model making, huh...), and after staring at those guys and messing around with the b/c marine painter, i have come to the conclusion that the scythes of draconia will be hard as nails, no joking around grey and bone white bad A's! (although, since i have 5 war hosts, maybe having some grey trimmed marines for our friendly star phantom, i can always make up a new unit that eschews the color scheme and spec ops nigh fighting or something...) now the real fun begins, this evening and tomorrow morning will certainly see more marines, hopefully with more character and decent posing. thanks for all the input, it means a lot to a kid like me.
