The_Chaplain Posted July 30, 2014 Share Posted July 30, 2014 The cover marine looks good, though the overhang on the base might cause an argument if your were to field it on the tabletop-- might make it a tad difficult to getting into c&c with. I think you need to add some dust coming out of the thousand sons rubric marine's helmet-- their bodies having been reduced to dust and all. The base isn't too much of an issue actually, looking at the bottom, but I do see what you mean... Eh, if things go according to plan they'll never be in cc to begin with :P Dust.... YES! I'll add that ASAP Hehe. It's as tall as a terminator. >:D. My cop out is it's a 2 handed weapon, I put a sword hilt on the upper part to simulate this, I guess I get a bit carried away, those oversized weapons characters in final fantasy and other shows use are a bit of a bad influence I suppose. : / Thanks for the critique! Argent aquila Posted August 31, 2014 Author Share Posted August 31, 2014 hello everybody, update time! sadly, i don't have anything strictly model related as far as finished or WIP pieces, with school now in swing again, everything outside the regular band trips and sleepless homework nights is now on the backburner, those college level english and history courses sure know how to lay it on thick with homework... i do have some exciting stuff though, whent through 4 different hobby stores and bought up some of the vallejo game colors to give a shot, specifically blues, grays, whites, and fleshtones: [/url]">http://http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/gallery/image/135864-image14/'> so whenever the weather cools off a bit and i can get some more guys primed, and a couple hours spared, i'll be experimenting with the paints i've heard quite a good bit about! i've also thought about starting up a new thread introducing my renegade astartes warband, right now they're in the concept phase, mostly because i've no money or time to make them, but i plan on making a story centered around their intervention between a siege against the tau by the scythes themselves. ( i can post my rough idea of the chapter whenever i get them blocked out if y'all want???) anyway, the next big thing i plan on doing here is getting that stupid forgeworld order put in, my dad keeps blowing me off about it and i desperately want to make some marines with the nightlord terror helmets! and then there's painting up the tactical squad and finishing the witchfate tor. and drooling over the new Nagash model and his Mortarchs... god those are sooo cool. What are you gonna out in the forgeworld order? well, i won't be getting all of it in one go, but in the end i'd at lease like to have this: character conversion set legion apothecary mkIv power weapons 5 iron armor marines with umbra ferrox bolters and boarding shields a mkIV venerable dread 8 total dread arms: mkIV arms (inferno cannon, claw, assault cannon,and plasma cannon) contemptor arms (autocannon, combat claw, heavy bolters, and plasma cannon) 3 deathstorm pods (which can double as regular pods too) 5 mkV assault marines (side note, i already have a kheres assault cannon, and, because of a mishap last order, a mkIV left claw) the grand total: way too much! my budget is about 250 USD including shipping, sooooooo anything i absolutely MUST get? suggestions are welcome! Argent aquila Posted December 20, 2014 Author Share Posted December 20, 2014 mini update. been working on the arms for my elitist MKIV's still gotta come up with a better name for them, they aren't terror squad really,. they aren't just sternguard or vets (unless it's in game, in which they are sternguard) ideas appreciated. anyway, got a heavy bolter arm painted, along with it's backpack pairing and a special kind of sidearm i threw together for fun. ( wrist mounted dual bolt pistols, more controllable firing and recoil compared to a storm bolter, for when the HB is low on ammo or precise shots are required. being wrist mounted made sense seeing as his hand would normally be needed to tote the HB and fire, only problem i'd have is reloading the thing, needing 2 clips instead of one could be a nuisance... *shrugs* ) [/url]">http:// [/url]">http:// [/url]">http://http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/gallery/image/142587-image7/'> i was pretty happy with the arms and how the model looks overall, only modelling issue i had was the marine the arm is magnetized to currently sits way too low to be appropriate, unless his shoulder socket is located 5 or 6 inches lower than the average human body. anywho, next arms i'm painting will include a power axe, storm shield, more bolters, chainswords, thunder hammers, flamers, a plasma cannon..... swords? maybe? eh, too lazy to go check, anyway, have a good break, i'll post more 'round the week as i make progress. but first, Akame Ga Kill needs to be finished..............
