Lord_Urbonov
So, to make a long story short, my next project is the Lord of Skulls uber death machine. Before I get down to brass tacks however, I wanted to seek some advice from the boards. I have a number of questions: 1) I am considering using (though not sure how yet) cheap store bought jewelry chains as part of my conversion, but they all come out of the box (figuratively speaking) too shiny. Should I just paint them with a black ink wash like Nuln oil, or is there another method for weathering/staining metal? 2) I have in my head to try and convert the model so it looks just a little more at home with my Word Bearers (religion of evil! muahahah). Short of covering the hull in crucified space marines and guardsmen, does anyone have any suggestions? I am in the early stages of figuring this out, and would appreciate any ideas (including what parts to get/use). The only Idea I have come with on my own is using the swirly chaos vortex thing from the Mutalith chaos beast as a sort of unholy halo behind the head. 3) I am planning on giving him legs, but while I've seen this accomplished a few times via Google image search, I cannot seem to find a tutorial or close up images of how precisely it was done (besides just "gluing the blood tanks together to make legs"). If anyone has come across any more detailed information I'd be grateful. I am really excited about this model (close as I am likely to come to having a titan) and I really want to do a good job. Thanks everyone. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285209-lord-of-skulls-words-conversion-questions/ Share on other sites
Argun
Can't say much for the legs, but if you're trying to make it more Wordy, why not lay the blood tanks on their sides (might fit 2 per side instead of the 3?) and make the back into some sort of temple where the Dark Apostles can preach/send out the next wave of cultists? Lord_Urbonov
Can't say much for the legs, but if you're trying to make it more Wordy, why not lay the blood tanks on their sides (might fit 2 per side instead of the 3?) and make the back into some sort of temple where the Dark Apostles can preach/send out the next wave of cultists? I like the idea of a mobile temple or sacrificial alter, but If I was to make something like that, id use the tracks that I will have left over after the leg conversion (I'm really attached to the leg conversion lol) On the subject, anyone know if is there a vehicle in the chaos marine army (possibly something from forgeworld rules I've never heard of) that a mobile sacrificial alter would be a good stand in for? If I could get two units out of this box set it would be awesome. Paulochromis
I always thought the dreadclaw looked like a temple/chapel/pagoda. To the poor suckers on the target world, it appears out of nowhere and spits forth daemon-worshippers. WingsOfTheFalcon
How about making a giant-sized accursed crozius for it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285209-lord-of-skulls-words-conversion-questions/#findComment-3566126 Share on other sites
