MomentoMori
Is this in C:GK? I just have digital codex on me and saw str3/ap3 rapid fire 18inches. At 9 points a model this has to make up for lack of IST and BS4. I'm thinking a hidden gem. Komrk
Yes, it can be taken by the Inquisitorial Henchmen acolytes I believe. And I've seen the HSLG do some pretty good work against marines. The only problem is trying to wound MEQs with S3 and only having BS 3 makes it harder but it can work wonders. Frater Cornelius
BS3 is less the problem since you have access to divination. It's the short range and s3 that makes it hard to use. You will have to be pretty damn close for rapid fire. Not exactly the optimal range for GEQ. Pyro X
you have a chance to make the range longer with the weaponsmiths though, there are transports you could use as a portable gun platform. Inquisitor =D=
I've been running henchmen squads of 6x warriors w/ carapace, HSLG and 2x Jokero loaded into a rhino. Two games played since my return and I can say that 30" HSLGs are Gold. Rapid firing at 15" is just murderous against MEQ squads. Though don't always count on it. I also got Rending on one roll and a 5++ as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285271-hot-shot-las-gun/#findComment-3561542 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
Hot-shots are bad all round. Just take plasma guns if you want anti-Marine firepower. I prefer storm bolters, they're dirt-cheap and you get 2 shots at 24". DK6
I use storm bolters and run two Jokeros which usually gives them both rending and an additional 12" of range. I was running two acolytes with plasma guns (which is good if you plan to assault with them) but have recently changed to three servitors with plasma cannon as they were cheeper in the squad with an inquisitor to sit back and shoot. Reclusiarch Darius
Plasma cannon servitors > Acolyte plasma guns. You do pay a bit more, but blast AP2 is just hell on infantry of all stripes. Combined with 'Perfect Timing' and/or 'Prescience', you can obliterate enemy infantry at will. I've been running that combo since the 6th edition powers came out, it's brutal :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285271-hot-shot-las-gun/#findComment-3563716 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Using either combination of C:GK or C:I as primary, with Dual FoC, you can get a total of 7 PML1 Inquisitor + 3 Plasma Cannon Servitor units. Each costs you 115 points, so 805 total. You like mass Longfangs and Missile Launchers? These 7 units are right up your ally! Only downside is you can't hit fliers or overwatch with them! And you can add 4 point meatshields to each unit as well! Edit: So you don't play 2,000 points, or Dual FoC isn't allowed. You can get 5 of these units. Primary - Codex: Grey Knights; HQ: Inquisitor, PML1 (55) HQ: Inquisitor, PML1 (55) Elite: Servitor x3, Plasma Cannon x3, Warrior Accolyte x2 (38) Elite: Servitor x3, Plasma Cannon x3, Warrior Accolyte x2 (38) Inqusitorial Detachment; HQ: Inquisitor, PML1 (55) HQ: Inquisitor, PML1 (55) HQ: Inquisitor, PML1 (55) Elite: Servitor x3, Plasma Cannon x3, Warrior Accolyte x2 (38) Elite: Servitor x3, Plasma Cannon x3, Warrior Accolyte x2 (38) Elite: Servitor x3, Plasma Cannon x3, Warrior Accolyte x2 (38) Total: 465 For 15 'twin-linked' Plasma Cannons! If you're playing 1,850 points, that's nearly 1,400 left for Troops/Scoring units! True_Hisop
Hotshots although nice on the models are for the points you pay just bad, storm bolters are better in every situation even against power Armour due to strength range and assault vs rapid fire if you are interesting here's the maths worked out in detail -http://bestoverall.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/maths-request-hotshot-versus.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285271-hot-shot-las-gun/#findComment-3568486 Share on other sites
