S.k.i.t.t.l.e
NMM is very time consuming and is a hell of a challenge... But I gotta go with the Sanguinor. I know it's been done to death, but its a great model. (Even though finecast sucks) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285280-what-models-most-deserve-nmm/#findComment-3561273 Share on other sites
Kastor Krieg
One, it's overkill work for effect. Two, IMO it looks way worse than true metallic metal that's shaded and weathered. Three, I absolutely hate fixed artificial lighting on a miniature. GrandMagnus
I guess those are fair points of wiev. While I must agree with you that fixed artificial lightning doesnt go well with miniatures, I still think expo mini look great in it. And to the OP I could recommend the sanguinor, dante, or anything else from the BA. Hemal
Sanuinor for the win.. The model is awesome and whilst I agree you can get nice True MM, I think the "showing off" you can do with NMM is astounding... I've posted this once but will shamelessly post again.. Forté
Any...if you're good at it. Personally, TMM (true metallic metal) just looks better. Especially if you use other colours with the shadows. Toxichobbit
I'm with Kastor Krieg, NMM just doesn't do it for me. It's like the current fad of OSL EVERYTHING! Both are good techniques, both are over-used. Entire armies painted with NMM just look too cartoonish and while it can work on individual models, I find a model painted in the same technique using actual metallics is much nicer looking. Also harder to paint, unfortunately. I do like NMM on banners and cloaks though (metallics almost always look tacky on cloth), so something with a nice banner or some good areas of clothing that are ripe for some freehand.
