The following is a battle report of Brother <CENSORED> of the 1st Company of the Dark Angel Chapter further addressed as Deathwing from here on.

It was a midday battle. The forces of several Astares drew together for a live fire training exercise. Calgar of the Ultramarines, Belial of the Dark Angels, a librarian of the Dark Angels as well as a High Marshall of the Black Templars met in combat.

Early on it appeared the Calgar would lead the charge early, however Sammael  with quick thinking took advantage and lead the assault with a squad of Black Knights. By use of a Crusader Pattern Land Raider a squad of Deathwing Knights charged out and quickly assaulted a large squad of Black Templar Crusaders. There was little they could as the Knights assaulted quickly killing 15 of marines. The rest would unable to stand their ground and fled quickly. The transport awaited the cowards, surely they would be punished for fleeing. During the same time, two squads of Deathwing teleported in seperate locations. Several more Templars fell to the barrage of gun fire.

Calgar with a retinue of terminators moved foward with a Crusader Pattern Land Raider following. They had positioned several devastor squads on along an abandoned fortress wall. Though they fired lascannons, they failed to do any damage to Dark Angel's Land Raider.

The librarian led his forces foward but took no additional actions.

The Templars were outraged at the lost of their follow soldiers and surged foward. They rained down fire into the terminators. The Deathwing stood strong against the gun fire. The squad lead by Belial however took 2 loses. Through excellent use of a drop pod assault, the Iron Clad Dreadnaught killed 3 Deathwing members. The high marshall lead an assault against Belial who issues a challenge to imeddiately. The high marshall's rage lead him to accept the challenge. The number against the Deathwing were high and there were loses on both sides  but they continued to fight.

< Additional information on Report>

The Dark Angels lead by Belial did not stop their assault. The Knight positioned themselves to attack  one of the Dreadnaughts brought by the Black Templars. < Previous dreadnaught not mentioned due to its inability hit targets. >The Knights used their Maces of Absolution in Smite Mode and nothing was left after the explosion. The Knights prepared for the next conflict. The Black Knights charged into another squad templars. Opening them with a salvo of plasma talons and a well placed Statis Grenade. The secondardy Deathwing squad fired into the same squad as well as charging; sadly only two terminators made it into the fight to be joined the Black knights. The plasma cannon overheated killing two of the Deathwing before the assault. When the conflict was over, the templars had lost another squad. The Deathwing turned to the Iron Clad ready to strike back. Belial continued to engage in combat with the high marshall; still at a dead lock they continued fight each other. The last remaining Deathwing member killed three of the high marshall's honor guard.

Calgar pushed his terminators and Land Raider towards Belial and the largest of the combats. His devastator squads to change to targets of opportunity; the librarian led Dark Angel's lost one rhino to lascannon and missle fire. Calgar and retinue fired towards the Knights but failed to land a shot.

The librarian led Dark Angels all left their rhinos and set up to return fire to the devastator squad that destroyed the rhino. They must have been a malfunction on their range finders. With the command squad holding high a Banner of Devstation, there were many shots that missed hitting the wall below the devastators. They were unable to  perform anything else.

The Black Templars once again struck back. The Iron Clad was unable to finish off the squad of Deathwing in front of him and braced himself for an assault.  The last squad of crusaders left the broken bastion. < Once again, this force had no previous impact. > The squad opened fire on the remaining Black Knight, finishing the squad.  The high marshall managed to make a killing blow on Belial. In the other part of the battle, the Deathwing Brother <CENSORED> managed to intimidate the remaining Honor Guard; the entire squad including the ran from Brother <CENSORED>.

<Continued Report>

Though Belial had been slain, Sammael continued to lead the Dark Angels further. The Knights were reduced to one in conflict with remaining of the crusader squad, The Master Knight stood alone after the conflict was over. Once again with a grim resolve, he prepared for the next conflict. Sammael attempted to finish the Iron Clad but was unable to penetrate its armour. The Deathwing charged in but did not make to the Iron Clad as they were gunned down in overwatch.

Calgar fired on the remaining Knight and after acheiving the kill lead his forces away from the training exercise. We do not know where they went.

The librarian led Dark Angels found they were finally in range to begin an attack the remains of Belial's forces. The command squad led by the librarian mounted up in a Land Raider, standard pattern.  They sped towards the conflict. A squad of Ravenwing Attack Bikers opened fired on Sammael failing to wound the Grand Master. They did manage to partially damage the Crusader Pattern Land Raider, shaking the crew to only be able to turn and snap fire. A squad of Tactial Marines waited for any counter attack at a servo skull that was part of the training exercise. < Many forces have been left unmentioned due to no involvement up to certain points. >

It is at this point, all the Templars had remaining was the Iron Clad Dreadnaught. He continued to fire its weapons in an impotent rage.

Belial's remaining forces began to move foward towards the new enemy. Brother <CENSORED> came into range and was able to partially damage the Iron Clad but far outside of being able to close in combat. It is at this point Sammael was overly hastey and begun to fire on the Ravenwing.  He was able to kill one biker and the Typhoon Pattern Land Speeder.  The Crusader Pattern Land Raider opened fire on the Dark Shroud protecting the rest of the Ravenwing; the attack was brief, assault cannons opened up the Dark Shroud quickly. Sammael  rushed foward and charged into combat with the Ravenwing. Before they had a chance to attack Sammael slammed into them hard instantly killing the first but last. The squad stood no chance against the Grand Master. One fell from plasma, 3 in close combat; it is understandable that should break the courage of any fighting. The Ravenwing fled so quickly they  left all weapons behind and did not return.

The librarian's forces surged forward. His Land Raider attempted to kill Sammael. Though the Lascannons connected Sammael lived with sword held high. The Librarian also used Deathwing Knights and they finally connected with a target. They crumpled the shell of the Iron Clad Dreadnaught. The remaining forces remained in control of the Servo Skull.

Even the remainder of the Templar forces were destroyed, the drop pod that brought the Iron Clad still continue to fire at targets. It managed to bring one Knight down.

Belial's forces continued to fight. Sammael, Brother <CENSORED>, and the Crusader Pattern Land Raider was all that remained. With focused fire, they were able to bring down the Knights.

The Librarian's Land Raider with continued and hard focused fire brought down Sammael.

I generally don't name them, but try to "pimp them out" if they do exceptionally well.  I'll give the model a cooler base, or give him some bling upgrades from my box o bits.  Or maybe paint one of his pauldrons gold.

One ork player did this with a grot.  The grot was so infamous, that eventually he towered above the other models, and the local meta actually started to fear him.  He almost never missed, somehow survived all odds, and even killed a monstrous creature by himself.

I only named my chapter master because no one sirvives quite like him, a dæmon prince with 13 hatred fleshbane attacks, no big deal :P but it would be a personal thing, maybe adding a nameplate on him or some trophy/icon. Im going to be in a escalation campaign with a table of effects if your warlord kills their warlord (ranging from executions to the loser gaining hatred/preferred enemy and a grudge match in the future) and will probably need to find a way to make some trophies for my kills. Yet that will be hard to do since iron hands dont go around with the heads of their slain on a pole (white scars).

I put up the repaint job he got in WIP section. Painted the rim of his base white. He got named Cassiel after an Arcangel of Solitude and Tears who presided over the death of kings. He was in the squad with Belial and he chased off the High Marshall. My warlord and his. I figured the name was appropriate.
