Gillyfish
Very impressive. I like the dark and brooding tone you've achieved on both models. One minor quibble is that the power weapon on Moloc (which is really well done) I don't think fits with the earthiness of the miniature. I'd either expect some object source lighting on the rest of the model or a non-glowing power weapon, perhaps using NMM greys to suggest a polished steel surface. That really is a minor point though - they look lovely. rick_1138
I have these sitting on the 'to do' pile, this makes me want to do them. The thing I am really interested in is how you achieved the sort of 'hammered' gold\brass colour on the gold, is it very carefully adding spots\specks of a brown or is it a sort of dirty wash on a tarnished\roughed up surface? Really interested as its something that could work well on an idea I am working on to model :) Many thanks for any tips, and those are very nicely done and photographed figures. That Guy Matt
I'm not a Minotaurs fan, but I do love the Moloc model and you certainly did it justice here. LutherMax
Thank you all for the comments! @ Gillyfish, I know what you mean but I did discuss the power weapon with the c86 and we agreed this is how we'd do it. I think it adds the "sci-fi" element to the model without which it could almost be straight out of Ancient Rome! @ Rick, the texture on the model itself helps a lot, but the method I used is as follows: base coat Tin Bitz, wash Nuln Oil, dry brush Rub n Buff Gold, wash Gryphonne Sepia, edge highlighted Mithril Silver. I did a second wash of Agrax Earthshade on the recessed panels, for some contrast.
