1850 GK army looking for a comp score

Trying to write a GK list that doesn't involve coteaz and deathcults for a less competitive environment. This is what I came up with, I'd like you thoughts on what you would give it for comp out of 10 where 10 is the softest army ever and 0 is the hardest army every put on a table.

HQ

Grand Master - Incinerator, blind grenades, digital weapons, mastercrafted force sword, 3x servo skulls

Inquisitor - Power armour, 3x servo skulls, psyoculum, psyker

Troops

Strike Squad - 10 strike knights, 2x psycannon, psybolt ammo, master-crafted demon hammer

Strike Squad - 10 strike knights, 2x psycannon, psybolt ammo, master-crafted demon hammer

Strike Squad - 10 strike knights, 2x psycannon, psybolt ammo, demon hammer

Elites

Henchmen Squad - 2x acolyte with plasma gun, 1x mystic, 1x banisher, 5x psyker, 3x acolyte with boltgun

1 Paladin - Master-crafted demon hammer

Heavy Support

Dread Knight - Heavy Incinerator

Dread Knight - Heavy Incinerator

Dread Knight - Heavy Incinerator, Great Sword

Fortification

Defence line with Quad gun

All feedback appreciated.

Crynn

I'm not sure I'd count three NDKs as less competitive. msn-wink.gif

Edit;

How about using a range of units. Something like;

HQ: GKGM, Servo Skull x3

HQ: OMI, TDA, Psycannon, PML1

Elite: Paladin x5, Psycannon x2

Elite: Purifier x10, NFH, Psycannon x4

Troop: GKT x5, Psycannon

Troop: Strike x10, Psybolt Ammo, Psycannon x2

Fast: Stormraven

Heavy: Dreadnought

Heavy: NDK, H Incinerator

This is just shy of 1850, and there's lots of room to customise. :)

Comp is for scrub tournaments. Part of the reason why I don't ever participate in Australian ones, they're infested with amateur rules lawyers trying to 'balance' the game by banning or restricting units or even wargear selections.

Looking at your list, I'd give it a 5. You've taken a Grandmaster in a list which already has plenty of scoring bodies (30 is huge for a Knight list, 20 is more common). Strikes are pretty bad in the current meta, so that gives you brownie points. Solodin and terrible Henchmen loadout also further increase your score. However, Aegis+Quad Gun and triple Dreadknight (with free Scout or scoring from Grandmaster) does make your list pretty hard-hitting, so that puts you back.

If you wanna get 10 points with Knights, I'd suggest running laspistol Acolytes, running a few Techmarines with close-combat upgrades, and Landraiders for Heavy Support. Oh wait, LR's are still considered OP by the usual whingers, so you'd only get an 8....aha, I know, take Purgators with no special weapons, but halberds and hammers ;)

Thanks guys especially Darius for the response, icant believe this site gets so little traffic these days, I used to post here regularly and forums seemed to have many more threads and responses.

By the by, Darius I play games with 6 of the top 10 ranked players in my country so I can assure you australian players are not comp hippies, the group I play with is directly responsibly for the huge push in comp in Australia and in Victoria (a state in Australia) there are many no comp tournaments. I have also never heard of an Australian tournament that has ever banned any unit or piece of wargear, no one I know would dare do such a thing. You should come play at 3++ con or something one year and test out the Australian players, is see you there or go to ETC and perhaps we can catch up, I'll be playing for Australia and would love to meet some of the forum names I see all the time! The reason for this comp list is sometimes I get bored of thrashing people with my disgusting lists, it's fine when I play with my very competitive gaming group or I'm at a no comp tourny however sometimes people in store want to give me a game and there is no point to the game when the outcome is so close to set either because their list is just a bunch of random units or they are a new player and just haven't got many games under there belt. Same thing goes for some tournaments, occasionally I just want to throw dice and I wanted to give myself a more challenge army and something of which isn't just terrible but also a list that others would be happy to play against.

Other times (most of the time) I just want to take the best list I can, play to the best of my ability and play the game 40k like its a game of chess as that is what I truly enjoy, so when it comes to comp we are in agreement. Perhaps we should have a game?

Thanks for the breakdown on my list and the comp you've given it that is much appreciated essentially I was hoping for about a 5 out of 10 so that is great, I must say its weird writing a grey knights list without coteaz!

Happy to stand corrected :) it's been ages since I've even inquired about local tournaments here. In any case, I don't play often enough to be tournament capable, I'm more of an armchair critic ;) . Glad to see people are getting rid of comp, it's the dumbest idea.

I think it's kinda hard to do a cancer list with Knights, we're just not that powerful anymore. I guess PaladinStar still does the rounds and scares newbz, but it's honestly so meaningless in a world of Riptides, Heldrakes and Serpents. (shrug) Build a list with a mix of stuff I guess, as GL mentioned.

You in Brisbane? If not we might have to Vassal

Yeah, it's hard not being a baller and playing the best SC in the game haha. Maybe try out a Librarian? Daemons are popular these days, sending him or a DK in to 'Dark Excommunicate' that Grimoire they love so much might work.

Haha thanks Darius, didn't realize you were even in Australia, i'm down in VIC not QLD however I agree that most of the time comp is stupid however sometimes taking a amore casual army is good. Though there was a time where in australia mainly melbourne where I'm from you got slammed for taking the hard lists, not any more thank god.

Or Crowe! I don't think anyone would mark down a Crowe list.

Even if it was nothing but MSU 5 man Purifier squads! msn-wink.gif
