So its probably been asked a thousand time but i cant seem to find it so I'm asking again! (my searching skills are weak...)

MKVII in heresy, Timeline? I know its late heresy but is there any way it would show up at say.. Istavann? Im currently putting some of my salamanders together and I have a model i made for my Marines Malevolent and i want to re-purpose him, I would just swap the legs but god i love the pose way way way too much...

Also MKVI Istavann or not? Just trying to be as accurate as possible i guess, If I'm going to invest in Heresy era stuff i may as well try do it as accurately as possible.

Thanks for dealing with my probably repeated question haha.

No, the Mk VII was invented on Terra during the Heresy. That didn't even begin until the Imperial Fists managed to extract enough materials and personnel from Mars to Terra in order to begin the production.

However, there do seem to be a variety of different armor-patterns, such as the Manilla and Sarum pattern breathers in Forgeworld's Betrayal(both of which highly resemble the MkVII vox-grille; can be found on pages 71 and 93 respectively) as well as something called a "bale-snout" helmet found in the novel Legion. I'll attempt to find the page again. There is also the Praetor-pattern armor of the Ultramarines and who knows what else. So what I would do is diversify the MkVII mini. Make it look "less" MkVII and more "Who-knows".

EDIT: For example, the mini you have posted is a good idea of what I mean. Just the legs here, an arm there, a helmet somewhere in between, etc.

The legs could just as easily be Mk IV legs with artificed knee guards. Just paint them gold or something. Besides, if he is a Salamander, the armor will be wildly different in style and appearance between each individual legionary, given their predilection for customization.

The only thing that makes me do double takes about Mark VII armor is the cuirass and certain helmets (the double tubes and the like).

@ kol

I'll see what I can do with making it look a bit different, if all goes down hill

With him ill just have to use different legs.

Thanks brother,

And same kind of thing with MKVI, post istivann creation?

Im slowing chewing through the heresy books, and trying to get a grip on the insanely convoluted time line... its a great read though!

@Marshal

That is very true, they like changing up up dont they.

Yea the helms stick out way to much for me, so a few of my guys will be headless untill I get my next fw injection!
