ellis_esquire Posted January 8, 2014 Share Posted January 8, 2014 Hi all - was wondering what sort of tricks and ingenuity here at the B&C DA brothers have utilised in order to develop my own Sable Claw. Im not that keen on the old Gideon Landspeeder adapted model as it just doesnt scream AV14 to me! Cactus Posted January 8, 2014 Share Posted January 8, 2014 Did you know that the increased AV is due to a force field, not extra armour plating? Pedantry aside, the land speeder tempest is a very nice design, sleek and brutal, and a fitting ride for the Master of the Ravenwing. I'm not sure I like the javelin as much but it would be a distinctive model. My only modelling suggestion is to apply parts from the Ravenwing and veteran sprues until you think there's enough. Sableclaw is the Land Speeder. I find the Scribor an acceptable substitute for the bike version and would play you but I wouldnt let you use it for a speeder without it being doubled up or something... SvenONE Posted January 8, 2014 Share Posted January 8, 2014 I also like the Tempest because of it's enclosure and the single speeder look I feel falls in line with Sableclaw. Sammael is such a skilled pilot he can fly and fire the thing with ease without the assistance of a pilot or co-pilot (when you want something done, do it yourself!), I agree about the look of the tempest when it comes to the force field. I think you miss out on the chance to model Sammael in the cockpit, but the tradeoff is you can really over adorn the thing with DA bits. The Darkshroud shrine could be modified to sit on the rear fin, and maybe the Assault Cannons and Heavy Bolters sit under the fingers (1 of each per wing). Im tempted to use my old MK 2 landspeeder now just to have my first ever DA model redone and annoying hard to hit as its so small lol! I just checked and my crappy finecake sammys upper body actually fits the cockpit too - hmmm. I bet you any money that when we get the HH treatment, itll be a resin version of that anyhow for the preheresy dark angel landspeeders! @Lahendiel - I do like those scibor bits you showed. However I ordered the robed bikers some time ago and trust me the scale is way too big. Probably much more like true sale, but the looked ridiculous next to GEEDUB plastics. Im saving them for preheresy terminators. @ Quixus - nice find there on puppets. could be an option but not sure its gothic enough. @ Captain Sox - thanks for bringing this in Avoghai! Nice mr sox. Im one of the only people who loves this model but might have sammy sit in one of the further back pulpits. You rarely see be used which for me would make it an interesting proposition for Sammael's ride. Unerslung nose tl-assault cannons would be an easy job, a heavy bolter under each wing would serve for the tl-hb. Remove current ac and change it for some kind of sensor or comms probe/array. Sidewinder 3 Posted January 13, 2014 Share Posted January 13, 2014 Hi, here's my Take, I decided to take away the Sword because I have assumed that while trying to fly at low altitude an Apache like Gunship trying to blast the chapter's Foes and avoiding terrain and enemy shots, wielding a Big Sword with the hand that you should use to control throttle is cool but has really no sense. I have added a Techmarine and some extra consoles instead of the gunner because I have assumed that the Sable Claw, its sensors and Archeotech energy shields would require considerable knowledge that a simple RW gunner could not master. I have assumed that the AV14 value is not generated from fisical armor but from "Iron Halo like" devices, from this the modelling using Terminator Sgt Iron Halo pole.
