henrywalker
I'm coming back to marines for the first time since 6th edition and i'm wondering how people feel about dreadnoughts given the new vehicle rules. how would you equip your space wolf dreadnoughts? any sagas? what role do you seem them fulfilling? also how about bjorn? i have a cool conversion i might want to do for him but i won't if he's not worth fielding. Frater Cornelius
Hull point definitely hurt them and add to that the abundance of meltas and plasmas around then you will find that hes far less survivable. So keep it cheap. The most popular version right now is the rifleman dread aka dread with 2 twin linked autocanons. However, a naked dread with CCW and possibly a minor weapon upgrade in a drop pod can serve as a valuable distraction. With the FAQ changes to iron priests they can actually restore hull points, so that's a bonus. Stay the hell away from venerables, they cost WAAAAAAAAY to much over a normal dread for a relatively minor upgrade. Björn is a difficult issue. He's one of the most expensives chars you can find but on the other hand he is quite a bit more survivable than most dreads. Give him a plasmacanon and stick him in your gun line. He will help with Ld tests because of his saga of the majesty, help you win the roll-off in the beginning and should he die (which would be nice in turn 3 or more) then your guys will be fearless AND gives an extra objective. Not so good in a kill point game though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285402-dreadnoughts/#findComment-3564265 Share on other sites

I drop a heavy flamer dred and it always seems to cause some issues. dothac83
Bjorn still can't be put in a Drop Pod either too :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285402-dreadnoughts/#findComment-3564458 Share on other sites
d@n
Drop pod iron hands iron clad dread noughts .... Awesome ! Drop pod death company dread noughts ....awesome ! Death wing mortis dreads supported with a power field....awesome! Space wolve dread noughts alas are a waste of points. There a relic of previous addition, over costed and under armoured . It's a shame as I love dread noughts and have 6 of them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285402-dreadnoughts/#findComment-3564470 Share on other sites
DanPesci
I tend to use them probably more often than I should, just cos i like the idea of them, but they rarely make their points back. I hear riflemen dreads are good, but i never take them as i want my dreadnoughts pounding face. Usually i put one in a pod, give it a heavy flamer, and usually a multimelta. If it drops the same time as 2 other squads, it can be a nice diversion to draw fire away from them, however i cant remember the last time i saw one of y dreads survive past turn 3.
